I practiced until I couldn’t hold myself up yesterday. How deep should I stretch out today? I kept my cooldown stretches on the lighter side yesterday because I really did overdo it a bit and didn’t want to overstretch.

Looks like we’ve got our own little beginners circle going https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Let’s keep encouraging each other to get that first vid up…I plan on purposefully showing a few failures in hopes someone else can better see what I’m doing wrong. (probably lots of things https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif )

MemberSeptember 30, 2009 at 1:44 pm in reply to: Newbie question: cradle spin, ankle spinI think that’s why I’m getting frustrated, because the grip is interfering with me figuring out how much strength I have. I’m wiping down my pole after every time I put my hands on it! My hands can even feel dry and as soon as I touch the pole out comes the flood https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif maybe I should actually read that grip aid review now…I hope I’m not the only one with disgustingly sweaty hands. I just feel like if I could get a good split grip going it would be easier, I can’t say why I feel that way but it just feels more stable. Lol it’s so tough to describe feeling stronger one way than other, it just feels better. Aside from the wiping out when I slide on my own hand grease. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m also new and also a total dork, it’s ok! Welcome! This is a good place to learn how to be significantly less of a dork on the pole hahaha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

MemberSeptember 30, 2009 at 8:59 am in reply to: Gastrointestinal Issues from Poleing?Poor thing! I thought proper core muscle development usually was good for GI health, so I don’t even know how poling could do that. Google’s no doctor, but if there’s a proper name for what you have I’d look it up to see what the standard of care is so you can make sure whatever GI doc you see knows his stuff and asks for the right tests. Usually theres some kind of dr/patient website that will at least say what the most common treatment paths are so you can be informed wherever you go, you don’t want someone trying to operate on you if you don’t need it….or worse someone who won’t operate if you do.

MemberSeptember 30, 2009 at 8:42 am in reply to: Newbie question: cradle spin, ankle spinI feel like the split grip way–the way veena shows–is a little more stable than the way I’ve been practicing, but I seriously can’t stay on the pole that way https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif I feel like my grip is pretty strong, I can climb a wall of all underholds if you guys know what that is, all the holds face downward so you have to really work on grip. I feel like my hands are sopping sopping wet without climbing chalk. I tried to split grip that cradle a few more times last night and I have the same problem: bottom hand slides right down in an oil slick of hand sweat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
And yeah even with the shirt I’m either getting pinchies or smacking my ribs off the pole but I think that’s because I can’t get the grip to stick enough to get my core stable around the pole.

I didn’t realize you were from CHI! I’m chillin’ in Oak Lawn right as we speak! Unfortunately, I have to head back to college-land in central IL today. But fortunately my x-pole will be there on Tuesday! I think at some point a pole jam might be in order! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I made the decision to forego meds within a few months of being put on them. I just don’t like spending my day feeling the way they make me feel. (not to mention–paging sex drive? where are you sex drive?) I’m trying to find healthy ways to keep my body in balance.
