that numbing cream is not available here but laser is so quick I guess it's not really that nescessary! I don't think it's too uncommon to get mild burns irregularly while undergoing treatment. Of course, if they're strong enough to scar or take a while to fully heal, then there is something wrong!

I get Shellac nails done at a salon (occasionally) but I never get 14 days out of it. While it is incredibly durable, my nails grow so damn fast that within 4/5 days there is a gap on my nail with no colour. By day 14 half my nail is left with no colour. So I would deffo love to try gel nail polish. Haven't seen it over here for home use yet.You can get Salon gel that you need a UV light to set. Would be great to get a thicker, more durable alternative to nail polish though. Especially for people like myself whose nails grow super fast!

I would be very sceptical of this at home device. Laser Hair removal is expensive in salons and if these devices really worked I'd imagine there'd be far more than two brands out there. We'd all be snapping them up! If it helps at all, I have just one more session of laser hair removal left on my underarms and bikini and it hurts A LOT. Each session has hurt more and more. And I've gotten superficial burns twice. It's serious business so I would deffo recommend having a professional do it for you.

Good luck with whatever you decide https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have a 40mm and leg grip really isn't an issue. You certainly feel it a little more than on a 50mm, in that my legs feel the pull of the pole a lot but I guess it's just like conditioning yourself when you started poling in the very beginning. Hand grip is amaaazing. It's not THAT small either, my fingers only very barely touch and that's at a push! 🙂

I got it cut about 18 months ago and it's down to my bellybutton now!

I can't really complain because my hair grows incredibly fast. So much so that I was a hair model for two Salon brands at the same time. My hair ideally would need trimmed every 3 weeks. My nails are the same, they grow very long in 3-4 days. After a break up I decided to cut my hair (which was down to my lower back) and cut it up all the way to just above my shoulders. I liked it at the time but so glad my long hair is back. It suits me better. I have naturally very long, dark hair and while I'm glad I got to experience the shorter cut, I don't think I'll do it again.

Hey Sparrow that is so sweet of you to try find a way of making things easier on her. I wore hearing aids for years and over time learned to lip read without ever even realising it. I can hear most of the time but if I can't see your mouth I will not know what you're saying. It'll sound muffled. To be honest, I wouldn't worry a whole lot. Already you've done LOADS by talking to her and acknowledging that she cannot hear as well as the other girls. She knows you're approachable and that you won't respond badly if she needs you to explain it to her a second time because she missed the class demo.

Also, in terms of lip reading and body language, if you can face her while demonstrating the moves and make your movements big and expressive she won't struggle much at all. She'll be well used to managing with this throughout life with people who are not half as aware as you are. You've nothing to worry about but I think you're so lovely for being this considerate!

I wish someone would have told me that I didn't need to force myself to struggle with a 50mm. I am so stunned by how I ever used it and I've only have my 40mm one week! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I also wish someone had have told me how to invert correctly. Untraining bad habits was very difficult. Proper form to begin with would have been nice.

Jessica Biel looks amazing there! Herself and Jennifer Love Hewitt are so hot and healthy looking. I love that they both clearly work out , I think they're great role models for young girls for promoting healthy body images. Everytime I hear that 'strong is the new skinny' I think of Miss Biel. Gorgeous!!

Welcome to StudioVeena https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif I am small aswell, I'm 4'11 and I think there are a few challenges that shorter polers face but also a few advantages that we have over taller dancers too. The biggest challenge for me is pole size. I used a standard 50mm for almost two years but became so disheartened and demotivated by the constant grip issues.

It's very hard to deal with other polers saying things like ''oh you just need to improve strength and you'll be fine on the 50mm''. Yes, that is true that improved strength is definitely going to help but I feel that perhaps some ladies don't quite understand just how difficult it is to grip with tiny hands. I cannot touch my fingers to my thumb (or anywhere even close to it) when I grip the pole. I just sold my 50mm and bought a 40mm. While I admire those who choose to struggle through and use the 50mm in the hope that it makes them a better/stronger poler, for me, it's a decision between either, A) Keep the 50mm and become more frustrated and eventually stop practicing or B) Get a smaller pole and actually enjoy using it and achieving moves I can't grip for on a 50mm. Certain spins are a no-go for me on the 50mm because they are simply too dangerous with my compromised grip. Like a reverse grab for instance, I can not hold on to save my life on the 50mm.

I only dance for myself, at home so I do not need to force myself to use a 50mm. For me, it's supposed to be a hobby and something I enjoy so I won't endure the frustration a bigger pole gives me if I don't need to.

Then of course moves like the twisted ballerina can be tricky because there is not a lot of me to go around the pole but it's definitely not impossible. We have a big advantage in that we have plenty of space on the pole and the freedom to wear heels and still appear to be petite little things. Being short definitely isn't a hindrance! Enjoy the poling 🙂

    Heeey Veeners!!

I've been having a dilemma with my body shape as of late. As a child I was a chubby (or as my mother would say, 'cuddly') little thing. I started martial arts at the age of 8 and carried it right through until I was 16. As I became as teenager I lost an awful lot of weight and became quite slim and very toned. I think because I stayed at the karate for so long, I never really learned what my natural body type was like.

Fast forward a few years and I no longer do any martial arts. My body changed a lot. Not so much to other people (thank God for clothes haha!) but definitely to me. I actually purposely TRIED to gain weight, after it dropped so low after a crappy break up. I hated being super skinny because it didn't suit me, I was always pretty strong looking and I had turned quite boney.

Anyway, I think I over did the whole gaining weight thing because over the last 12 months I see that I am bigger than before. I don't know how I didn't get a handle on it more, I suppose I didn't care that much and was dealing with anxiety a lot, even working out in front of people would make me tense and feel stupid. I'd be fooling myself if I tried to deny that I have gained weight. My BIG issue is the fat on my back. I don't know why the hell it even exists. It's so ugly and I've never had it before.

I have started training at the gym 3 times a week and LOVE the 'me time' it allows for and I've also cut out crappy foods, such as fried things, fizzy drinks, overly processed foods etc. So I am trying. What I really would like to know is if you ladies who have had this horrible back fat got rid of it? And if so, how? I know the gym and diet is the main thing but are there specific toning exercises I can do to improve my back??

On a side note, I have been in bits with headaches all this week. So much so that I may go to the doc tomorrow. Could these be from the new gym schedule? I am not starving myself or depriving myself of fluids so I'm not sure if the headaches are related?? It might not be, I just feel crap because now that I'm trying to really improve myself I can't because I'm stuck in bed, in pain! Grrr!
