Excellent–thanks! It’s just that you never know, right? Some people consider a lot of inverted moves to be intermediate, while others consider them to be advanced, blah blah blah.
Anyhoo, I sent her an email to ask about availability. We’ll see!

The backward bow and arrow looks like the beginnings of a GORGEOUS reverse thigh hold (I think this is what I’ve seen Veena call it)/dangerous Brian to me. Let go, put your hands behind you, and there you are!

Some from my playlist….I don’t think any of these have been mentioned yet. Apologies if I missed them on someone else’s list!
Sweet Dreams – Marilyn Manson
Nude – Radiohead
6 Underground – Sneaker Pimps
#1 Crush – Garbage
Half Life – Sneaker Pimps (sheer awesomeness, IMO)
Don’t Forget to Breathe – Bitter:Sweet
Corrupt – Depeche Mode (oh so hawttttt)
Father Figure – George Michael (older, but still good!)
Wild Horses – The Sundays
Everything Will be Alright – Killers
Monkey!! Knife!! Fight!! – Minus the Bear (some rise and fall but the underbeat is slow and heavy)
Sour Times – Portishead
The Beautiful Ones – Prince
Bittersweet Symphony – The Verve -
Sooooo, a question about workshops like this. Given that there is so much discrepancy amongst the pole world about what constitutes beginning/intermediate/advanced moves and the progression thereof, how would a gal know what workshops to sign up for? Are there parameters that Jamilla herself gives–e.g., you need to be able to invert comfortably for intermediate, need to be able to aerial invert for advanced–something like that? ‘Cause it would suck to sign up for intermediate, thinking it’s going to be one thing, and have it be way easier than expected….or sign up for advanced, only to find out I am in waaaaaay over my head, lol.

At one point I thought about going over, but they seemed like the types who were baiting me for exactly that, and I didn’t want to give them the satisfaction, KWIM? And they were a definite minority. Most of the bar folks seemed to be experiencing a combination of amazement and lust. Women and men alike. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I had a great time, as did my friends, and got to bust out some fun new stuff for them.
And you’re right, horsecrazy12987, I am no stick. I’m solid. My body fat percentage is pretty darned good; I am muscular. Are there some jiggly bits? Uhhh, yeah, lol, but not anything that was showing.
Chemgoddess, it’s Otie’s in Hilliard. The pole is nice–i.e., it’s a real, permanent, stationary pole–but it seems kind of like an afterthought. It is about 3 feet from the men’s room entrance, and about 2 feet from 2 major pathways through the bar. If I had done a reverse grab or something else that requires a little "breathing room," I could have taken out about 15 people. And there’s a big sign that says "please don’t climb the pole" so of course I carried it to the top and had my friend take a picture. I scoff at authority! Haha! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif The owner saw me, laughed, and gave me the thumbs up.

I am 100% geeked out over pole, always, but I have experienced what you’re talking about with riding (horses). I wax and wane on that, even though I love it dearly. What helps me is to make a schedule and STICK TO IT. I set a few goals for myself and for the horse I’m riding–maybe it’s getting a trot half-pass down pat, or maybe it’s just getting them to unlock that poll for me. Goals keep me on the straight and narrow and in the saddle. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’ve also found that, on the days where I’m feeling really "meh" about riding, if I just get out and do it, I’m always glad I did. I do a lot of catch riding–meaning, I keep other peoples’ horses in shape so that when they go to ride, they have a willing, supple, controllable horse, so the responsibility factor weighs heavily at times, too. Those owners depend on me, and I don’t want someone getting tossed because I was feeling uninspired the day before.
One other thought: is there any one song that always gets your toes a’tapping, no matter your mood? If so, put that on and dance to it. Just for fun. Try to reawaken the FUN aspects of pole, and don’t worry about anything. Just move your body.
You can do it!! I always look forward to your posts, and having seen your dance in action on video, I can tell you I’d love to see more!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I probably shouldn’t answer this question because I think almost everything is sexy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Nympho? Not necessarily, lol….but I am very tactile and sensual and I think sexy can be found almost anywhere.
That said, I love arms. Have a major thing for them. Strong, sinewy, not beefy….mmm mmm mmm! Beefy= https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif to me, but a skinny but muscular dude, especially if he’s of middle eastern descent, will get me to do a double take every. single. time. I appear to be hard-wired for this, because I didn’t grow up in a particularly diverse place.
And I’d give my right arm (that’s the better pole arm, folks!) to make Dave Navarro my love monkey for a week or two. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif

Hot dang–congrats!!! I have yet to get the knee hold….can’t seem to push my hips forward far enough, which I think is actually an indication that my hamstrings aren’t strong enough to hold me in the hold, so guess what I’ve been working extra hard on? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Hope you can get pics for us!!!! Congrats again!

Knee pit doesn’t work for me (too much thigh meat, hahaha), but I prefer the lines of the other anyway. I think it looks like the dancer is just draped along the pole. Now I love the sharper lines of the knee pit outside leg hang. For me, I think it’s the contrast that I like–two similar moves, yet they look so very different. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Niqui is bad-ASS. Every time I see one of her strength moves I am just flabbergasted. I’d like to see a whole dance video from her (hint hint cough cough lol).

That is so cute! I’m no song writer though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Oh geez, songs like my little ditty above pop into my head as quickly as any other thoughts….trouble is, they’re normally not songs anyone would ever want or need to hear. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

At the mo’ I’m using it to get used to double cupped grip. Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be able to do the SM not only in respect grip, but also cupped!Ooh, btw, great idea to get the dismount on vid. I haven’t seen mine either. It sure feels pretty though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I was in the same boat–it felt good but I had no idea whatsoever as to how it looked!

MemberMarch 22, 2010 at 2:22 am in reply to: Reverse SM/SM dismount…whatever you wanna call itTonight at the studio I asked one of the girls to get it on camera, since I have not seen it (tough to watch in a mirror and concentrate on keeping control, lol). I have to admit, I was pretty chuffed when I saw it. I think I will be using this move! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I also have a long torso and short legs, and after seeing myself, I am thinking the SM/reverse SM has as much to do with being able to tilt your hips so as to give your legs an extra little bit of length. If you can do an inverted V, I bet trying the same move in SM grip would help you not roll across the collarbone. Of course, I’m a newb at the reverse part of the SM, but I’ve been doing SMs up for a while now.

Eventually, you’ll be reading your bruises like they were tea leaves…."ahhhhh, in this one I see a failed superman attempt…..and this one is from one. too. many. side climbs……..and this, this is from a reverse grab." https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
It does get better, as you get more sure of yourself and lean how to hold yourself on the pole. I promise!!!

I still want side string shorts–you know, the kind with the side drawstring where you can stretch them out for more coverage or shrink them up for more booty? But no logo. I know S Factor carries them but they have the big S on them. I likey no logo please. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
