I am all hardwood, all the time. Our studio is half hardwood, half carpet, and I only dance on the carpet when I absolutely have to. If you use the insides of your knees on the "butt push" it is exponentially less painful and puts way less pressure on your knees, plus it allows your hips a little extra freedom to push upward. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I make fun of it. "Yep, I turned my home office into a strip club–wanna come make it rain on me? I could use some cash." Really, I don’t care what they call it; most people think it’s pretty cool, as do I!!

I think it would be wicked fun to dance to a song someone else picked for us….or to dance to a song that is 180 degrees different from what we normally dance to. Like pick something s-u-p-e-r slow if you normally dance to something fast, or vice versa. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Also, with one-armed spins, I have found that momentum is my BFF. When I first started dropping a hand, I was too tentative and found myself sliding *right* down. When I finally just decided to go for it, as it were, my efforts became a lot easier. Now, I don’t do a ton of one-armed spins because I always end up doing something utterly dorky with my other arm, lol. It’s prettier to just leave it on the pole. Maybe someday I will gain some one-armed gracefulness.

Well, I decided to get prints of 8 of them and to get all 125 on CD. And I am eagerly awaiting my next chance at photography. I want to get some more dramatic ones next round….after seeing amyxshi’s hotttttt photos, I want some too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Some moves will be harder than others for everyone…but if the Veenas and Karols of the world can grip, I’d say yours is more a question of technique than physicality. How long have you been poling? Normally it just takes time to learn how to leverage your body on the pole and time to discover where your sweet spots are. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Congrats!!! The cradle was tough for me when I first learned it too…I could get into position but would spin slooooooowly one revolution and then be left hanging there.

    Such a pretty move!

I asked my skinny-legged friend how she does hers and she says she tends to cross her legs over not at the shins & ankles but rather crossing the knees. Then she puts extra pressure on her hooked feet along with squeezing the heck out of her thighs.

I have enough meat that this has never been a problem, LOL. Like I said, I *love* this move. Have from day one. It just fits my body. Now Gemini? For me, that’s a trickster. I can do it, but my body, she no likey.

You are one hot tamale, woman! I love those pictures–gorgeous warm lighting, amazing use of shadow/light, and lovely, lovely poses from a fab model. I feel ya on the "pole face" because I had that issue big time on some of the pics from my recent shoot. As a result, some of my favorite tricks didn’t turn out worth a dang. Next time, hopefully.

    Anyhoo, they are WONDERFUL!!!!

I have 3 pairs of boots and love all 3, I think that is because I cannot find platforms that fit me properly. I am a 9.5 and have issues with being too big or too small.

    I have:

The last pair I have are:
https://www.studioveena.comhttp&#58://ak.buy.com/db_assets/prod_lrg_images/904/212489904.jpg I love love love these boots so much that I hate to wear them to pole. You can change the laces out to match your outfit plus they have a zipper up the back. The charm on the zipper pull was cheesy and broke the first time I put them on so I just removed them (the pull is still there). My only issue with these is that they are HOT to dance in. I could not even imagine thigh high boots!

OH MY GOSH *where* did you get those freaking adorable boots??? WANT!!!!!!!!!!!

If I can chime in on that–sugar is also a great scrub. Salt burns my skin (so sensitive!!). And olive oil is FAB for both skin and hair. Just don’t use much, and make sure to soap lightly after so you rinse the excess off well enough. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yay, CAR!!!!! I prefer the CAR to the CKR as I feel more secure…plus I think it’s easier to get into other moves from it.

Where are you placing the pole between your legs? And how are you lowering yourself down? When I first learned it, it helped me to think of rotating my thighs inward as I went backward. Also, I did a lot of prep by pulling myself up into a CAR and then a pole sit from an elbow stand or handstand. I figured if I could do it in reverse, I could do it normally. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m so glad you weighed in, Veena! Jayjay, I do some elbowstand work in one of my vids here. Not an instructional video by any means, but at any rate, you can see the maneuverability I referred to. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Keep in mind, I’ve been giving you tips on ELBOW stand…..but I don’t have Veena’s lessons. If she is teaching a HEADstand things are completely different. But an elbow stand is frequently used in gymnastics and I have a hunch it’s the one to which you’re referring.

When I am in an elbow stand, I can turn my head completely one way or the other…I can arch my back and neck and look at the pole, I can shift my entire body out without worrying about putting my head/neck at weird angles or causing them undue pressure.
