Points of contact: elbows, forearms, hands if necessary. Your head may *brush* the floor during this move but it shouldn’t be *resting* on the floor. Engaging your shoulders and lifting your head off the ground allows you so much more mobility and is safer to boot.

Your head really shouldn’t touch the floor in an elbow stand or you run the risk of hurting your neck and spine. Engage your shoulders and get that head free! Then you should not have any sort of dragging issues whatsoever. Also, pushing up with your forearms would put a lot of pressure on your triceps…plus negate the ab benefits.

This is something I do quite often. My head doesn’t do anything special…I wrap my legs as if in a CAR, then crunch my abs and sit up. Since my head is off the ground in an elbow stand, it just stays aligned with my torso.

I will second Corn Huskers lotion. Also, pure shea butter helps me when I’m SUPER dry. If you massage it in when you’re fresh out of the shower it soaks in better and doesn’t grease you up quite so much.

OK, I put a few representative pix up in my profile. These are some of my favs….if you had to narrow the list to, say, 5-7 images, which would you choose?

Yeah, but then you’d all see the icky bad ones too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I am going to ask her if she minds my posting some here for group input from a world of fellow polers.

What I meant is that the digital proofs are protected and can’t be downloaded…..there is a workaround but I hate to do it, KWIM?

BTW, I used to work with copyright/trademark attorneys….if you scan a professional image and post it, without getting permission and/or crediting the photographer, technically speaking you are breaking the law. Most places sell digital rights as well as prints.

Wow, I sound like an utter nerd. Sorry!

Some will go on the studio wall but I’ll let the owner choose those. I may put a few up in my home studio….not sure.

I would totally post them but they’re copyright protected and I’m concerned about getting in hot water with the photog…..it’s killing me because I WANT so badly to post them for input!

I actually find this hard!. I mean really hard! I think most of us are programmed not to compliment ourselves and thats really sad isnt it?

That is EXACTLY why I started this thread. We’re taught that to like something about our physical selves means that we are somehow vain, but why? Why does it make us vain to appreciate the beauty we have? We are taught to appreciate beauty in everything else…why not in our own physicality? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif

You need image editing software of some sort….or if you have them uploaded to flickr or photobucket, those hosts will also allow you to do minimal edits.

There aren’t many clubs ’round here with poles, though I apparently have spies everywhere. Probably every other weekend I get a text that says "Hey, I am at XYZ and did you know they have a pole?? We need to come here sometime!"

What I wonder about is the liability that must go along with having a pole in a bar. There were puh-lenty of intoxicated girls flinging themselves about, and I was so sure it was only a matter of time before someone’s head met the concrete in a very unfortunate way. I had one drink then switched to water because I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist the lure of that shiny steel pole.

Haha, that’s hilarious! I have a mystery bruise today, as a matter of fact. I tell most folks I have learned to read them like tea leaves because they show me how not to do a move the next time, lol.

Maybe it’s sad, but…. I’ve stared this thread down and read it almost every single day when it was posted, I’ve seen what everyone else has said, I think it’s a great idea, and I’m in the best shape of my life, but I still can’t think of anything to put here. There’s nothing about me or my body that I love enough to state it that way. You girls are lucky to even be able to find something, lucky that you think of yourselves that way.

    Maybe someday.

I hope that’s the case, truly.

Certainly there is something, even if it’s just a little thing? Shiny hair? Full lips? Pretty toes? Just put one thing, one teeny tiny little thing, and post it with happiness. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

My hands look like I’ve been working a chain gang or something–callouses all the way! As for the skin pain, at some point you’ll find a "sweet spot," so to speak, where a certain movement works best with your own body shape, and it won’t hurt as much. Plus, as chemgoddess said, you will start learning how to hold yourself in the move with muscle and less reliance on skin.
