I know I’m fairly new here but still want to offer my best wishes for an extra speedy and uneventful recovery!!

What will happen at some point–for some moves it’ll be sooner, for others later–is that you’ll find your "sweet spot." I was super fortunate with the pole sit and found it right away. Same with the peter pan (??I think that’s what wikipole calls it). I couldn’t understand why all the other women at the studio complained about the pole sit so much! It never, ever hurt. But I got kinda spoiled by that, and now it totally irks me when I don’t find the sweet spot right away lol.

As far as I know, there’s no official "open pole" times, but I’ll ask the owner the next time I talk to her. It would be so fun!

OK. The move at 4:15. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif How many times do you try that and crash before you actually get it? And then how many times before you get it 10 times out of 10?
Holy moly, that girl was FUN to watch.

I dance at Dolphin–LOVE the owner and, like I said, the studio space is gorgeous. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif For pole jams, do you normally get together and rent the studio for several hours, or how does it work?

Ooooooh! Oooooooh! I would love to do this! If you find someplace please let me know–I’ll GLADLY drive in! I am a ways east past Columbus. (FYI, Dolphin Dance in CBUS has a positively GORGEOUS studio space.)

I still just have one….double cup grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
What other grip do you like for SM? -
Oooooooh, Portishead! Loff them. I think Numb and Sour Times are both good ones by them in addition to the ones mentioned. I also like some of the oldish R&B like Oops, Me & U, etc.

My wayward move has returned!!!!! Hip hip hooray! Unfortunately it’s a wee bit messy, but I can control it so now I can spend some time cleaning it up. Yay!!

I think a lot of the pain going away has to do with the fact that we learn how to hold our bodies on the pole, where our "sweet spots" are, etc. I have learned to read my bruises and sore spots like they’re tea leaves, lol.

I haven’t ever seen the CE pole so can’t comment on that. As to building strength….working on the pole in a progression of moves will be the biggest aspect. Don’t rush! Take your time and do moves until you can do them in your sleep. Then do them one-handed, and so on. Do pole pullups, pole hangs, slowwwwwwww controlled slides down, ab curls on the pole….and Pilates! When you hang make sure you’re engaging your back and core rather than just hanging on with shoulders and biceps.
I would also STRONGLY recommend lessons at a reputable studio.
Good luck and happy dancing!!!!

He’s a nasty, pole-move-stealing PINCH!
He’s super duper sneaky
So guard all your best moves

D’you all think it is out travelling the world or something? Spending the month on the Emerald Isle? Visiting George Clooney at his Italian villa? Wherever it is, it had better be having an awesome time, because when it comes back we are gonna talk. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Sooooo, it was YOU, Clinky!!!!! Naughty naughty!
It is so maddening to just lose a move like that. Poof. GONE. Argh.
