But I’ll never give up my stripper heels. 🙂 I think I have more pairs of “stripper heels” than I do “regular” shoes lol. I LOVE ME some shoe claps and heel slides and all the things that are better in shoes!!!

Get your outside swing leg behind you and *really* sweep it around — let it carry your hips AWAY from the pole so you can get your inside foot underneath you. Keep at it, it’ll come! Spinning up from the floor always looks so gorgeous. 🙂

Leen recently mentioned that she migrated the site to a new host (or server, or something techie lol) — maybe the load issues are related to that?

MemberDecember 13, 2013 at 2:28 pm in reply to: how to avoid ‘leprechaun legs’ in cartwheel mount?I think things like this tend to work themselves out once you’re aware of them. So from here on out you’ll be hyper-aware of pointing your toes, and your toes will point. That’s the way it is for me when it comes to new(ish) moves, anyway. I think they’re all cool, and then I see a video and think :-/
But then I concentrate on whatever problem area got exposed and that helps. It’s why I love to record myself, even though sometimes I hate to watch my training sessions!
PS – Those are BAD-A$$ shoes.

I finally got mine pain-free after seeing a note from Charley (think it was Charley) about foot placement to keep the pressure off your instep and put it more at the side of your foot. And you might ask Kiki, cause that girl’s a Remi BEAST lol

We did that….I think it was last year? I loved seeing how different people danced to the same songs, it was so cool.

Yep to what everyone else has said. Getting the pole positioned at the knee correctly is soooo important and is very difficult for a lot of dancers. And I’ll add this: you might try to have them place the exact back of the outside kneepit on the pole, then bring the heel of the outside foot *straight down* toward the inside hip and keep actively pointing the outside toe down–just “hanging around” using skin contact is not allowed! This way of getting the positioning creates some very uncomfortable twisting lol … but it also results in solid contact and a closed leg angle which you really need. If the angle opens up even just to 90 degrees it’s going to be really tough for them to keep the hold.

I don’t mind it at all. Dance styles are SO different, and I enjoy being able to see how someone else interpreted the same music.

Rhiannan Nicole isn’t teeny tiny and she moves like WATER. And she’s strong strong strong stronnnnnng. Oh how I love to watch her. Same with AnneMarie Davies–that woman is an **entertainer**.

It works perfectly on my iPad–tab with “chat now” just hangs out at the bottom of my screen.

Spin pole is all about momentum control. Some poles are naturally faster than others … But. It’s of the time it boils down to being able to use your body weight to control the spin speed. Too fast? Stick something out. Too slow? Bring your whole body close to the pole. That’s a simplification but it’s a start. 🙂

Goldilocks–I posted a little superman video two weeks ago or so that helps with the hip flip, which in turn wayyyyyyy cuts down on the pain, because the skin barely twists at all thanks to the hip/leg positioning. It may help with your superman woes!

It sounds like it’s most likely a strength and “getting used to the motion” issue. 🙂 Your hips need to go well above your hands in order to get the knee hooked correctly without the hands being in the way. So once you get up you need to have an extra bit of oomph to get your hips up. Are you able to control your invert up *and* down?

I put up a little superman vid here for anyone who may be having trouble with the hip flip. Hope it helps, please let me know if so, I'd love to hear superman success stories!! XOXOXO

You Veeners are amazing! Pole dancing is SUCH hard work and I love to read posts about people continuing to better themselves, to learn new things, to keep at them even when it’s frustrating.
Anyone have tips for some of the moves listed in this thread? I have Cupid tips but don’t want to be a thread hog lol
