I’m seriously wondering if this studio thinks this move is unsafe because perhaps they do not know how to teach it correctly or maybe they have misjudged when to introduce this move and got themselves into trouble with a student who was not prepared for it. Have you tried asking the studio for a more detailed explanation as to why some moves have been banned? If the studio believes it is unsafe, they should be able to break down their explanation as well and as detailed as Veena broke down her response. The reason of "being unsafe" is very broad. Plus, a lot of the safety issues lie in proper technique and being at an appropriate skill level.

I’m going! Bought my VIP tickets as soon as they went on sale. I’m also taking Alethea’s workshop the day before. However, my family has just came down with a bug. The last time I started feeling like this, it knocked me on my butt for several weeks. Hope I feel a lot better by then!

Yeah, I tend to cuss when having to dismantle my poles. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I especially hate it when doing a pole party, and I have a bunch of women watching me struggle to dismantle a pole that I earlier told them was easy to put up and take down. I bought the upgraded release tools, but one of those has a bend now too. Sometimes shocking has helped, sometimes it hasn’t. Even my husband struggles with dismantling them sometimes. I know I should make more of an effort to lube the threads about once a month. Maybe that would help? The long screwdrivers sound like a good idea too.

At first, I was very intrigued by this pole, but after speaking with the company, I think I’ll spend my money on an X-Stage. I love the X products and have had major issues with PS in the past. The PS Stand Alone has to be filled with sand or water and then has to be siphoned out to be moved. I asked how long that took, but the gentleman I spoke with couldn’t give me a time, just a "Oh, not long." Doesn’t really cut it with me. He said that it came with everything you needed to fill and siphon, but I would like to see a video of this in action. Does it come with a pump? I don’t want to be draining out the water into a sink at a client’s house just to end up spilling the last bit of water stuck in the hose all over their carpet. I also do not like that it doesn’t spin yet. That’s a big downer for me.

Hey, girl! I’m in NC too, in Trinity. Great to have you on the forum.

I have entered a competition at a local club with a stainless steel pole – pole was slippery. I’m use to dancing on chrome, but my first pole was stainless and I go up to a dance club about once a month with my girls. That club also has stainless steel poles that are slippery. I never noticed the first pole I had get any grippier with time either. My grip my have gotten a little better, but the pole was still slick. I would recommend taking a grip aid. Not only is it a finish you are not use to, but you will probably get nervous and therefor sweaty.
Also, did you ask if the pole spins or is stationary? You’ll want to be practicing in the same mode.
Good luck!

Fantastic, Great to have you here!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif How has the scoliosis affected your pole dancing? Have you been limited or has it actually help you feel better? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
It has actually helped me to feel better. I thought I would have to modify a lot of the moves when I got my first pole, but to my surprise, I didn’t. I’m amazed by how much it has helped me because in a way I use to feel a bit handicapped. There was so much I couldn’t do or had trouble doing because of my back. Now, I can do anything! So far, there has only been one thing in pole dancing that I can’t do. I’ve heard it referred to as a pretzel or a bat spin.

It’s a shame because it’s one of my favorites. I can even do body waves which surprise me. I’ve completed my beginner and intermediate certifications and am almost done with my advanced. Four years ago I never would have thought that I would ever get this far with it. It started as just something fun, now it consumes me. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
