Ugh, I am sorry you’re going through this too! I really thought my bf and I had it figured out. I mean, it is LEVEL as level is going to get for this thing. There is no more level to go so it can’t be that. I mean, it’s not overtightened. I am a bigger girl (I weigh more than 160lbs) so I obviously need it to hold my weight so it does need to be tight but it’s not excessively tight and I have ton of the adjuster left. Only 2 inches is showing. Ugh. I am really frusterated because I was so excited and now I’m just…blah.

Sooo a week later and my pole is still doing this! So, it was fine for several days after we took it down and put it back up – spun pretty well. Then, we tightened it because it was becoming unstable and we’re back to square one. I called x-pole and they think a bottom piece could be messed up but I don’t see how. It feels as if something is going on at the top. I swear I do not have it overtightened! It is actually not even tight enough to be on so I’m stuck looking at it until I can figure out wtf is wrong with this thing.

Who did you buy it from? I bought my specifically from xpole so they could not try and shoot me crap if something was wrong with the pole. There is NO reason for a dent after a week. I would definitely call them and tell them. Did you notice there was a dent when you got it? Could anything have happened like it got dropped or banged?
I got my xpole a couple days ago and the adjuster got SUPER STUCK and they tried to tell me I did something to it. I was pissed considering I had only had it for an hour or so at this point. Anyway, I stuck to my guns and got it unstuck…a little embarrassing but they will try to tell you you are the reason something is going wrong with the pole. They have great customer service from what I hear but hardly ever admit they’re product could be defective. Now the stuck x joint I am not sure! XPOLE told me if my adjuster got stuck I could use a small amount of axel grease on it. Definitely call them and talk to them.

Thank you! I am going to have to purchase a laser level and see. Also, I may take it down and roll the pieces just to see but honestly, I have no clue why they would be bowed. My pole was slightly more tight than tight enough but it wasn’t THAT tight. I mean there is no way the pressure should have made the pieces bow and I just got the pole 2 days ago now so having it slightly too tight for all of 10 minutes shouldn’t have made it already bow – I would think it’d take more than too much pressure for a small amount of time to actually bend the pieces….maybe I am wrong though?
After taking it down it does spin better, and doesn’t have the speed bump. I am pretty sure it is spinning like it should be spinning. I think the pole is actually messing with my boyfriend and I’s eyes as it is chrome plated and the light reflects diffently when it’s turning making it look weird. When I put it next to something straight, there is no outward (kind of bowed) movement it just gives the illusion that there is.

Yes, it’s like speed bumps. It’ll turn halfway and then come to a pressure "hump" and then keep spinning until about half way again but it never bowed. The dome would kind of….not ripple but make the ever so slightest movement.
My bf and I took it down today and really worked with it. We also made sure to look at the base, dome and We made sure to only tighten as was needed and it seems to be better. It is completely level (I mean, PERFECT. There is no way this pole could get anymore vertically level). I also made sure the dome was level and touching all four sides of the ceiling as it had previously been. It spins much better. You can take your hand and give it a couple good twirls.
I like this pole a lot but it takes some work to get up and down. Maybe it won’t after this but it didn’t sound that hard lol
Now it’s weird because it doesn’t do the pressure catch thing anymore but now I think I am seeing things like the pole is kind of "bowed" while spinning but PERFECTLY level by eyesight when not and level when actually checking it with a level.
Thank you all so much for your help!

They said you should use jelly based substances if you have to use them at all.

MemberFebruary 25, 2010 at 7:29 pm in reply to: xpole?!?!?! what is wrong with you dear xpole?Aha, I am having this same problem except I JUST got my x-pert yesterday. I am kind of getting pissed but it’s too soon to tell. I went to x-pole because I had heard bad things about PS’s customer service and just decided I’d rather have the x-pert. I had a problem putting it up with the adjuster getting stuck. When I called they almost tried to insinuate I did something to get it to stick – I held to my guns and finally got it unstuck (my bf and I had to untwist it).
I have my pole level, all over. Pole is level on all four sides, dome is flat and level in he middle of a joist. We untightened it and it still feels like when it is on spin mode it has "pressure" humps. It doesn’t free spin. My bf and I are going to take it down today and redo it just to see if maybe moving it to another spot would help. If not, I am not sure what I am going to do because I am not going to pay xpole to replace a defective part if that is what the problem is (we followed instructions to a T so there was nothing done that would cause the pole to work improperly!). I definitely do not think it is still too tight because we untightened it a lot (I was wary of it being not tight enough at first) and checked it until the dome didn’t budge at all. So, wtf could it be if it isn’t any of those things? I mean my ceiling is 8’1 at best (It’s actually 8 1/2 but I’ll give it the extra half inch just to be on the safe side – yes I measured it, I’m just paranoid) and I am only using the one smallest extension which the manual says to use on ceilings under 8’2. I am almost 100 percent sure that the larger extension will not even fit on my ceiling as it is too big but we thought about maybe trying that although I doubt that would have to do much with how it spins.
xpole even told us we could take the screws all the way out and it still does this. I have NO CLUE what is going on.

I just got my x-pert pole today and yes, it was a doozy. Luckily my boyfriend LOVES to build things and is a natural so he did it while I basically watched, held things, read directions and made sure he was doing it right lol
