I have squeezed in a pole between my dining table and coffee table in the living room and it’s really tight. I can barely do a fireman spin.
I’m seriously considering getting rid of my queen bed, having one of those rollaway beds instead and moving my pole into the bedroom so it can have all the bedroom to itself! It just sounds too crazy to go through with though! Sigh!

I love yoga too!
Polekat, the Facebook link in one of your previous posts doesn’t work. I’m curious to check it out. Can you post it again please?

I find CAR incredibly hard to do, and could do a CKR on the first try. I have resorted to using the CAR hooked behind the pole hold everywhere, but I’m kind of stuck in my pole progress at the studio until I get the “regular CAR” down. 🙁

This looks like fun! I haven’t tried heels, and sure don’t know half the moves, so it’ll surely be a challenge! I’m going to try for sure though!!

Yay! Thank you! I hope so!
I was just able to hold up a flag for about a second. I should add holding that for longer to the goal too.

I’m a beginner and one of those people that’s bad at posting regularly on threads. 🙁
However, I have been poling regularly – I manage to go to 1 or 2 pole classes every week and practice at home about 2 times a week in addition.
And, I finally managed to do my elbowstand getup and the basic invert today! That’s two of the short-term goals achieved.Revising my goals:
Short-term:
1. Practice and improve my form with basic invert and chopper.
2. CAR bridge/layback. (I can do CKR easily but just reeeally struggle with CAR).
3. Clean up figurehead, learn side sit.
4. Get the intermediate spin combos in a fluid manner.
5. Start doing the conditioning and flexibility routines regularly.
6. Start practising in heels. 🙂Long-term:
1. Get the side splits.
2. Learn intermediate moves. Move to Level 3 moves.
3. Practice in a showcase/competition this year(?).Phew! Long post but putting that down feels soooo good! 🙂

Yayy! That’ll be really fun to learn. Looking forward to it, Veena. 🙂

I just managed to do a figurehead on the first try (and I’m not the kind who gets pole moves on the first try! LOL!) and was looking to see how I could incorporate it. The ideas in this thread are really awesome! 🙂
Particularly love the figurehead-to-plank idea. Would’ve never thought of it! -

However, in the past few weeks, counter-intuitively, I’ve realized that strengthening some of the smaller muscles actually helped increase the flexibility. In my case, it was the hip flexors that needed to be strengthened. A few things I’ve heard others say:
1. PNF stretching (Google this! It is a workout by itself, but apparently really effective)
2. Psychetruth channel on youtube. Also, I signed up for the splits challenge discussion thread that’s going on. Posting there may get you good tips.
Keep at it! Good luck!

Thank you! You guys are so great!
I think I’ll start with a 4 inch after all. 8 inches is truly incredible!
I’ll check out Cleo the Hurricane’s DVDs too.For now, I started with the beginner videos and I’m thinking of doing the strength video once a week, go to the pole studio nearby twice a week and work on the actual moves and technique twice a week. I’m really excited and can’t wait to get started! 🙂

I’m in! Yayyy! This is exciting!
I’ll have to enlist my boyfriend to take the starting photos.
