The roller just sounds like it would be amazing… I'm amazon shopping now, there are too many choices! Umm… some of them are textured. hah hah! How crazy do I need to get?

And thank you again for your continued support!

    Thank you, Veena!

รขโ‚ฌโ€นI started the 30 day take off once (got to day 6)… I don't have a foam roller (or resistance bands) and I felt like I was missing the point when I had to skip over any exercises or stretches that used those tools. I need to get a foam roller, can I find that on amazon, too? (My small town on a penninsula has next to no major stores, it's a safe bet I cannot find one locally)

I tried doing a handstand last night, but it was more of a headstand… I couldn't hold even a little bit of my weight with my arms. I hope I can get myself strong enough for that, because I really loved being upside down! hah hah… ๐Ÿ™‚

    It's been 10 years since I left that job…
Perhaps I'm just exhausted everywhere, out of shape, and taking it out on my arms. hah!

I've yet to progress beyond basic little things (pole sit, plank, crucifix). I have pain in my right shoulder, that my doctor diagnosed as bicipital tendonitis. I have some resistance bands on the way to help with the exercises I've found for that issue. My right wrist gives me a lot of trouble as well, I probably need to see him about that, too.

I can do a pole hold just fine, climbing is no problem… but when it comes to Veena's shoulder presses, I can't do more than a couple. I can do maybe a couple push ups before my shoulder and wrist are unbearable.

Eating right, I'm not really sure.
    Definitely not over doing it.
Getting enough rest would be a major no. It's not intentional, I just go through cycles of really terrible sleep.

I actually just had a pole dream this past week! I was standing at the pole, and did some crazy standing split… looked up, realized what I was doing, how easy it was, and got all excited. I just kept doing it through the whole dream, then I woke up. :p

    I can't do the splits.

I submitted mine the other day, I hope it came through! Did anyone get a confirmation that their story was received?

"I get that it could be good exercise and stuff…"

Yeah… clearly Anderson doesn't get it.

I totally WILL tell them, I'm just a control freak and want it to be just right. Hah!

My MIL found out when she came over and discovered my pole promenantly displayed in the middle of our tiny apartment. She said, "Um… what is that?" I said, "It's a fitness pole." Of course the next thing she blurted out was, "You're not going to start stripping, are you?!"
Luckily my husband jumped in, "No, but once she's really good at it maybe she'll open a studio to teach others."

Thanks for all of the off day input! I'm waiting for my toddler to fall asleep and I'll see if I can motivate my sore butt to do something tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

LittleEngine- I love the sore muscle feeling, too! It feels like I'm being reconnected to my body.

    THANK YOU!!

It was both the bottom two screws that line up with the X's and the 3 set screws. I dropped the cover and double checked that I was not on the threads, it was fine just not tight enough.

    Thanks again!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for the encouragement! I expected this to be hard, but not this hard :p

Quick question; what do you do on your rest days? Do you still do some exercises? What exactly am I supposed to avoid on rest days?

Now that I have more time to think about it…

It is really interesting how so many of you saw someone pole dancing and just knew right away that you had to do it. That is how I got into sailing. I knew nothing about tall ships, but one came to my town when I was 16, and once I saw everyone aloft in the rig working, climbing, setting sail, I just HAD to do it! I went to the boat that night and signed up, I was on the boat the next week.

I "met" Jag on another forum, she talked about her pole dancing there a few times, and it took actually seeing a video to understand… and it never left my mind. I watched another one a few weeks ago and said, "That's it! I have to do this!"

Wow!! All of the responses, I wish I had the time and focus to respond to everyone, thank you ALL for sharing!

I am amazed that some of you have been doing it for so many years, how awesome that there is so much room to grow in poling.

I'm perfectly happy to start slow- I'm going the self taught route until I can afford the time/money to travel and take a studio lesson. Since I'm going to rely on online lessons I plan to take it easy… but we'll see what happens once I actually put the pole up!
