I would start with something like p90x and lifting. There are many superhuman moves in there but I would modify them to best suite what I know my body’s capable of. You gotta start somewhere, ya know? We went to the local park and my bf was doing modified versions and it gave him quite the workout!

I’m an avid juicer. But I use it supplementally. I don’t mess with fasting, especially now that I workout regularly. I know my body and it requires that I eat several small portions throughout the day. I’m burning more calories now and I don’t want to let my tank run out. Supplementally, it gives me a huge boost in the morning and my skin looks amazing!!! My favorite juice recipe right now is : 2 handfuls of organic spinach, 3-4 large leaves of kale, a few organic carrots, 2 apples, handful of blueberries/raspberries and or strawberries, a couple big chunks of pineapple, an orange or two and a squeeze of lemon and a hint of mint. YUM 🙂

Wow. There are some really touching stories here. Pole has been a major part of my life for a little over a year now. For the sake of this thread im going to bare all. Ive have battled addiction since I was 17. Before pole, when times got tough I would use to escape or run from whatever it was I couldn’t deal with. When I was 15 I was devastated from the loss of 4 very close family members in 2 months. I didn’t cope properly which then lead to heavy use. Things were looking grim until my best friend (my now bf of 4 years) came to my rescue one rough night. He told me he was in love with me but couldnt be with a user. I have been in love with him since the 9th grade. I made the best decision of my life that night. I got help and was told to find a healthy way to cope with emotions. I tried meetings, biking, yoga(which i now love both!), shooting range, you name it. But nothing kept my attention for long. One day I was on youtube and saw Jenyne Butterfly’s demo at Awakenings. I probably watched it 5 times in a row. I became enthralled and spent what must have been hours doing youtube searches for pole. Then I found Veena’s channel and clicked on a link to this site. Bought my pole shortly after and now here I am. A health/fitness freak in the prime of my life. Healthy and on track. I’d be lying if I said I don’t have tough days where I feel weak willed. But when that happens I turn down the lights, put on my 7 inch heels and dance it out. I know it sounds silly, but in a way, pole has saved my life 🙂

Great thread! We are a diverse group of ladies (and gents 🙂 I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist and a part-time Employment Testing Consultant. Being an LMT I have to be a bit careful about who knows that I pole…I have enough problems with male clients who’ve seen the Showtime series “Client List” who think theyre entitled to a “happy ending” :/ Im seriously considering working for only female clients so I can be flamboyant about pole. My goal is to eventually be a pole instructor 🙂

I LOVE slow dancing in my heels. I wear 7 1/2in Pleasers and to me they are way more comfortable than my day-to-day heels. It didnt start that way though. Someone told me to clean the house in them and after awhile they just became an extension of me. As for your weak ankles start with ankle weights and walk around in those. I use ankle weights while practicing leg extension and deadlift elbowstands. It really makes a difference. Take it slow. Wearing heels while dancing really slow will allow you to think about your sensuality and the beautiful lines you’re creating. Turn down the lights turn up the downtempo beats and move slowly. It’ll make you feel so sexy 😉

My man also enjoys more dancing than tricks. Still, he is very impressed now that im advanced. My warmups for every practice include throwing on my heels and freestyling to 3-4 songs (usually the first 2 are slow, last 2 are fast!) He loves watching my warmups, then when it’s time for the panting and grunting part of my practice he goes into the studio to play music lol. My cool downs are usually 1 slow sexy, flexy song. He loooves when I drop down into splits with my heels on 😉

Something to work towards, ladies. Something to work towards 😉 I’ve been working on those spinning pole ups. I’m able to do it maybe 3-5 times…but she’s insane. I have a hard time keeping my body totally straight so that’s my challenge for now. Baby steps!!

I definitely get poler’s high. I never used to run before I started poling (I never did much of anything for that matter) but now I’m finding many activities like running a joy simply because it fine tunes my body for pole. I am starting to crave a good run (started jogging/running about 2 months ago) just as I crave a long hard pole session. My only weakness is my right knee. I’ve been doing strengthening excersizes for my knees in order to keep running in order to keep poling. Basically, any activity that will sharpen or boost my pole skills, I am on it. 😉

Power- I had problems with several PTs I went to, but please know that there are reputable ones out there! I found one after weeding out many “quacks”. He was very knowledgeable and helped me recover. Although I do credit my Trigger Point therapist, too. The combination was probably why I saw pretty quick results 🙂

Yeah that happens to me sometimes too. I feel like it’s the worst on days when I haven’t warmed up as much as I should-so I try to get some cardio and a sweaty workout in before my deep stretching.. Also my knees are kind of weak too but I started doing knee strengthening excersizes i found on youtube. that has really helped as well. When I told my friend (a lovely ballet dancer) about my knee pain for front splits she told me to push the top of my hind foot into the ground and that helped, too 🙂
