ok so its the end of August and my first time back on the pole since New Year's was today but I might have to see what I can do tomorrow anyway. Hubby is away fishing so its the perfect time. It won't be great and super basic but at least I can get my first challenge of the year for me. lol

I'll never be able to be a pole dancer like the rest of you guys just because of my disabilities but in my heart I was a pole dancer the first time I spun and said out well BOOM there it is…lol  True there are polers out there who are so amazing its a wonder they don't have wings hidden somewhere but for some of us being a pole dancer is part of our spirit at least that's the way I look at it.

funn thing…after I shattered my hip I thought if I do get back on the pole I'll never be able to wear my heels again..it took months before I would put anything on but flats or bare feet plus I'm one of the unlucky ones whose plate and pins surgery made one leg a little shorter https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif  so after many months we went out to dinner and I got dressed up…and thought I'm gonna try some heels…well I looked pretty funny with heels and a cane but lo and behold that night I realized with the heels on I could walk without the cane…how bizarre is that!  I'm still a little scared of them because I worry I'll stumble and I am completely paranoid about falling https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif   I was however happy happy that my heels are not something I have to just look at because since I started poling I have sooooooooo many pairs… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif  I haven't ried to pole in my heels again yet since I'm just now able to get back on it but I am hopeful.

August 31, 2012 at 10:59 pm in reply to: Mighty Grip Powder? has anyone tried it?

because of crooked fused hands it is impossible for me to grip a pole like normal so I use mighty grip gloves with tack and wrist protectctor with tack over that. Of course I cannot do much on the pole right now but before the old hip shattered I found putting a little mighty grip or  I think its ITac on my thighs and inside legs. I totally have chicken little legs and thighs so getting a good grip is hard for me. I wish I could manage without any tack or prodcut but I will probably always have to use it and the gloves which give me the extra padding so I can grip the pole. I didn't know about the pole issue with grip if you had pole thaat had sections…they also have mighty grip ankle grips with tack ..again without them I could pole because of my bones. So I am a mighty grip fan.

try being in your late 50's and explaining…  it gets interesting….lol in some cases when I'm asked how my hubby of 27 years feels about it… I say he's actually quite happy to have a little extra treat in his marriage and why would he need to go to the clubs when he has me at home. Well women my age tend to do one of three things…walk off calling me a name.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif…try to explain they would never allow their husbands to go to those clubs…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gifuhhhh yeah right lady….and a few like my physical therapist wanted to know where I got my pole – took lessons and about SV online.  Funny she looked the happiest of all the women. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif

I am going to try and use them starting next week just to start getting my self stretched back after my hip surgery in Jan. I've been a little scared about falling from the pole so I have been hesitant although i have the go ahead. It will be a start over for me since it has been almost 6 months since I broke my hip and femur. I can really feel the rods/pins/screws even when walking so I am in for a challenge.

I used self-inject imitrex like 15 yrs ago. As with all migraine meds for me they work well for a while. I use maxalt now but I think the chest tightening is common as the meds constrict blood vessels. Having had headaches for 25 yrs I know how difficult they can be. One key thing is migraine meds generally only work for migraines. So if headaches are cluster, tension stress or something else they don’t work. Very important to know what kind of headache to treat it. I unfortunately have complicated combination headaches. When I take migraine meds and its a cluster type headache it doesnt touch it. 🙁 as many have said they sometimes get better as you get older. One nice thing about geting older.

Well, we lost mom-in-law less than 2 weeks ago now so I can understand your pain about your sister….and although I am still hobbling about I may just have to give this one a try…obviously it won't be spinning and holds unless I want to break my other hip…lol   so I may have to improvise….hugs

after being stuck in this wheelchair I borrowed it has a 4 inch cushion, nicely durable cover..I was thinking when I get back on pole maybe getting four good thick ones and using my crafting skills to velcro them to each other..I woonder if that would work….

I loved to see this article and that a reporter made the effort to correct his misinformation. Too bad a lot of commenters are still locked in their stereotypical visions of the OMG stripper but those will never change their mind nor do they probably involve themselves in a serious form of athletics to understand what it takes to do even the first baby steps of this sport.

As I sit in this wheelchair knowing it will be months before I cannot make my muscles do my will on the pole again I truly understand how much I miss it and I was just a newbie and not far along.

you can never change everyone's opinion but what I love is seeing more and more older people talking positive about that is also a great step in a positive instruction. I shared this on my facebook page. Although few know I have TWO poles in my house my therapist has become so enthralled with the idea when she comes to work with me at home I plan on passing Venna's site on to her. I suspect she will be yet another poler in the making.

I always love hearing from you..keep it coming for us pole thirsty small town girls.

Oh sweetie I am so sorry! Just 3 weeks ago my daughter found the lockk on her storage cut and everything of value gone and her stuff dumped all down the street. We were digging through ditches and trash all over town for baby pictures, birth certificates, baby teeth and all those things you can't replace. They caught them…10 of them!!!  All a bunch of crack heads who called their family to the storage after they broke into it and let them haul off what they didn't want..It was devastating because when she lost her job and moved in with us with her little one we tried to teach her to be responsible and store her own things..wow I felt like S**t when it happened. We have pics of my little grandson going through the trash and finding his thomas the train parts and his kindergarten first day aart. We all felt so violated. The idiots took her big wrought iron bed set a block away and sold it and we found it and the police were all over it…

I know you feel so violated, please report it, change your locks and know we can't stop this from happening AND we can't let them take away our sense of freedom. Stay strong and make sure your lanmdlord knows how upset you are and that he should change the locks immediatley as his responsibility. Here if you need to vent…I know I have done  a lot of crying and yelling and cusrsing… 🙂
