HI, yeah Texas I am in Georgia but grew up in Pearland….You will find a group of people there to pole with there I'm sure. As far as family and poling I used to be like your family, a bit…go to youtube and look for circus aerial acts…you will find that women have been doing this gymnaastics type of movements a long time. Also look at the professional tournaments for pole dancers and of course the fact that it may become a part of the olympics doesn't hurt your argument any. 😉
This is a difficult sport and I think it is a sport. It takes conditioning, strength, and tons of practice and you are not going to graduate to working in a gentleman's club (unless you want to) I have encouraged my 3 daughters to do it and one has already started classes,..
last but not least check the forum and check with other polers on what kind of pole to buy. If you buy too cheap you will end up with "pole FAIL" they have some that you can buy in the novelty stores or online for under $100. Most of these can be dangerous because they aren't really meant for serious hardcore poling. I was tempted because a good pole will cost you. But you can look to buy a second hand one. I personally decided to take a chance on an ebay one that after checking thoroughly I decided I would take a chance on. It turned out to be a static/spinning x-pole from what I can tell. If not its really close AND after using it with different weight girls and the hubby for one swing it seems solid. Pink and other colors are pretty but make sure its a quality pole and that there are no complaints of finish coming off.
so thats my bit of info…congrats on joining the best fun on the internet..Studio Veena.

I have only been poling for a bit but I already do most of these…LOL the one about your child in school with the fireman pole…they haven't called but I am glad my grandson only has a few more of weeks of school. He is so excited now that he can do 4 or 5 different spins…but he says he told the teacher his nana's pole spins at home.. geez. I just smile when I go to the school on Fridays sharing time time with the kids. I think they probably think..nah she's too old to be doing that anyway must be something else.
I guess if he starts inverting this summer …. well I might have to buy anoter pole. 😉

yes, poor Frigga, it sucks to be stereo-typed…. I would say what about a ladder but i don't guess it really fits..ladders, black cats don't they say all that is even unluckier on Friday the 13th.

its too bad that the tv station decided to take advantage of the situation and basically turned them into the church of Spring's whores. I think it is just so sad that they used this to get watchers along with the slimy disgusting things that many say about poling. I find it disturbing when they laugh at christians who say dancing is sinful (which i no longer believe) and then laugh at them when they dance. Christianity can be a wonderful thing or a confusing one. Things like this make it harder.
I have been from the strict baptist to boys and girls cant swim in the same pool to no celebrating halloweenor having egg hunts to churchs that made huge flags and banners and and danced behind one another all around the church praising and dancing. Of course there is no way to win. Not to sound bitter but I have a bit of it to me. However I will say some of the most joyful fulfilling dancing I did was in my own living room with my 3 little girls..we called it "dancing in the spirit" and it wasn't all that tame…LOL I always felt my creator had blessed me by showing me I didn't need anyones's approval to make them and me happy and showing my own sense of worship. I am ashamed of my Houston for doing a story like this but nothing will compare to how these beautiful souls will be damaged. If I lived there I would be at the station raising hell, its not journalism its voyeurism for ratings.
Having said all that, I guess all women and people long for a way to show emotion and dance is something that belongs to everyone even though it may be very different from one person to another. I have to say I would put my pole away in certain situations not for me but for my grandchildren or my husband if it was a business situation. I generally do keep certain parts of my life because of the stigma attached including my spiritual path because of tings like this story.
I say don't pole for Jesus, a man, or anyone else but yourself unless you want to. I kinda feel honored that I don't have the same restrictions as young women with a church or kids that could suffer so I can leave my pole up and talk about it. Also I have to confess not too many on my facebook page I share it with BUT I would love to get to a point where we could. It is a beautiful artful way to express yourself. I hope one day I can tell everyone because I am really proud about it and it does such amazing things for my spirit especially considering I will wake up disabled every morning for the rest of my life and the joy of knowing I can still dance makes nothing seem impossible It so sad others chances to try this may be ruined by ignorant people.
sorry I drone on…yall probably all figured out by now I am a chatter box.
ps: I admit the heels kinda seemed weird then I asked myself do heels make feel pretty…hmmmm maybe they work the same way for these women.

I don't have a problem with sweaty hands but I have a hard time keeping my hands from slipping, not that I'm doing anything dangerous so I got some I-tac worked great but it had a waxy coat left on my pole. I tried mighty grip and I like it too but since it is impossible for me to get a complete hand against the pole i'll figure out which works for me.I didn't feel like a towel or paper towel did a good job wiping down the pole
BUT having taken care of other people's babies and kids for 30 years it dawned on me instead of a towel or paper towels I would try cloth diapers. AWESOME.
I also used the green alcohol (mentholated )to wipe down the pole it worked great. I guess you could always stick the diaper/towel in a big ziplock bag if away from home.
I think I may have some clay left on my hands from sculpting and since it is polymer it is hard to get off so I might have to find a better way to remove it or wear gloves.
Vinegar is a super natural cleaner for lots of things.

@smokinAngel….hmmm my washer freaked out on me so hubby called the repairman. I told him listen, I am not taking that pole down it is in the perfect spot. So today we shall see….LOL Considering the size of this little Georgia town I expect some response even if it is for him to act like he doesn't see it all.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
@dustbunny, my a$$ is apparently too old to do much bouncing either side. I can shake it and groove it slow a little but have never been able to do a bouncey thing at all. LOLhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Oh man I feel for you I have other medical but they could never out why.the headaches. So they called if complicated complex headaches which leads to migraine/cluster headaches which may last a few hours or a few weeks.
They put me on disability not so much for the h/a AZ other things. They put me on 4 anti-depressants, migraine meds for an attack and pain meds when nothing else works. If pain
ed don’t kick its off to ER where I try to explained I’m not there to get high but If they don’t help me basically I’m going g to throw myself under the next passing bus. Sometimes they call my Dr who promptly explains the situation. After that I go home and sleep 24 hrs and if I’m really lucky when I wake up the headache is gone. If not I start the cycle over again..
The meds I take used to try and prevent the headaches by skiing something to the seratonin in my brain.
They put me on disability almost 20 yes ago. People think I’m so lucky but they have no idea how bad you have to get disaster ility at that age and what it does to your life when your immune system is so compromised so much you can’t go to.a job everyday.
a month ago I had to stay in hospital a week get IV antibiotics
I had a headache for a week before that si I was lucky they gave me strong pain meds so when I came home it was gobeA good headache doctor helps because you dont have to explain it again and again they know about how they can destroy life as most people know it. It can destroy marriages cost friends who don’t get just because you look OK doesn’t mean your are.
Some of the things you might consider somebody the triggers besides stress….diet, caffeine, additives in food, rebound headaches cache even be caused by taking the same otc medications like aspirin, tylenol., ibuprofen anything you take every day. It will stop working after a while and can actually cause your headaches, smoking (or not smoking.if you are trying to quit), and unfortunately chocolate which I adore. 🙁 I am prescribed maxalt which usually works but wont work on. Any other h/a but a migraine.
there ate triggers during allergy season. I almost died when they thought my dogs Ans my horses may have contributes. Oh yes and alcohol…especially red wine.
you can look on line for triggers you may not know about. Then keep a headache diary ( a total pain in the ass. But it can really help) when you get a h/a, what you have had to eat or drink, what time you go to sleep and when you wake up. Lots of people get headaches after a night of partying even if they don’t drink…why because the slept late the morning after.that always seemed whacky to me but its true for me.
I am sorry every time someone tells.me they have chronic headaches because. I.have been in a dark closet, with a bucket to throw up in, an ice pack and a pillow. I hope you can find the source. BTW get yourself some.of those ice pack holders that have like ace bandage/Velcro. You slide an gel pack/ice bag into a sleeve and then you wrap around your head. I always feel dumb but it helps me. I think the pressure of it helps too si I don’t mind looking dumb. Hang in there. -
good for you! your body is already healing..I quit after 30+ years and I tried everything including chantix but I always went back. Then by accident I found electronic cigarettes. In my opinion they shouldn't be called cigarettes at all. You don't light anything..its a battery with an atomizer that causes a water vapor that feels and looks like smoke. I started with nicotine in mine but have no nicotine in now…My vapor is nicotine free Caramel Vanilla flavor. My kids tease me about vaping but being traditional cigarette free is a dream come true after this many years. Stay strong you will do it and then you dance longer and harder. ; – )

I am 56…and a beginner…
Funny thing about age we seem to grow more determined and dedicated as we blossom into who “we” are past 50. We don’t give up as easy, are beginning to love who we are without the kids PTA bake sales games and girl scouts. While I don’t look at myself sexual age certainly makes a woman feel more sensual. We don’t have to prove anything to anyone but ourselves and for me this is an amazing art form even if I never get past one spin. I say good for you we are not getting older we are getting better

MemberApril 2, 2011 at 1:43 pm in reply to: how to excuse your hubby from your pole sessionsMine is in the middle of my dining living area too. My little grandson (a verbal autistic, meaning he chatters & recites non-stop) is at our house most of the time. Lo and behold he loves the.pole. I have a spinner and he is like a wet noodle sticking to the pole never falling. LOL while I long for a room for now its pick up the Thomas trains and practice when I can. Just an advanced age beginner but I love it.
