This happens to me sometimes when I am practicing routines over and over and my body is tired. I use a combination of mole skin (not actual mole skin, lol) and vet wrap tape. the mole skin adds cushioning and the vet tape has a tac to it…not a perfect solution, but it definitely gets me through a practice without discomfort and the vet tape works pretty good to stay in place.

Yes, I saw your performance for worlds Joanna-(BEAST!), and I win by being older than both of you 🙂 Just got done competiting in uspdf and I was pleased with my recovery from that competition. I did A LOT of conditioning in preparation for that competition, and I think for me that was key. I tried to post this photo of my flexibility progress before, I didn't even know I could do this before the comp, ha! I have been training my flexibility in part by using Fly Gym if you're interested

I think flexibility is difficult for lots of dancers at any age (unless your body makeup is naturally bendy-which creates some other physical challenges) and if you're over 40 you really have to work at it. I have found that my body needs to be incredibly warm before stretching in order to really work any extreme stretching effectively, but with consistancy in my conditioning, followed byhttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=453894091328980&set=pb.190735254311533.-2207520000.1349489330&type=1&theater stretching I have acheived some really fantastic results….for instance

Charley, thank you. I feel the same about you. I will try to get over there and post something to that post as soon as I can organize my thoughts. Funny how the mean girls title struck a cord with me 🙂

I know they deal off of ebay or amazon, maybe both. I got my first PS off of one of those site, but I can't remember which. If you call them they will tell you.

I'm so glad I found this post, just read Charley's "Mean Girls" blog post, hahahaha, I have my own, most likely, unpopular, two bits opinion on that 🙂

I just stumbled onto this. Thank you all. One of the ladies is under the 40 mark, but one really can't tell who's who, can you? Glad you liked it.

Chelle is an INSANE poler!…She's gonna make us a pic or video to show us how it's done IN HEELS-up the pole. Can't wait.

Brian Kest's videos might be good for you then, they are power yoga- a bonus is that he is nice to look at 🙂

Anyone who says spinning pole is cheating or easier than static doesn't know what they're talking about. It's not easier nor is it harder to do spinning pole, it is, simply put, a completely different technique. I like both static and spinner, I usually choose the spin mode when there is a combonation of 4 or more moves, usually on a faster part of the music I am working with, that I want to connect, The challenge here is to keep the pole spinning and keep my grip…And I like the comment, "It's your pole, you dance however you want on it".

I have only tried the videos from Brian Kest and they were really good. Not sure what your goals are with it, but If you strive for more flexibility a class with a good teacher will push you unlike a video. Never the less, to learn the poses alone a video is great.
