Absolutely worth it!
You will know that everything you learn here is taught safely & in the correct order. Each lesson is broken down into stages, so it’s easier to learn a move a bit at a time, which is also a great way of building confidence. If you get stuck on anything all you need to do is ask, Veena herself or any one of the wonderful members here are full of help & encouragement. I can’t think of a better poling environment in the world! That’s why I’ve been a member for so long!;-)

I was recommended to try IMovie for iPhone by other members on SV, so far Ive used it to splice, added sound & cropped. I love it this far & found it really easy & intuitive to use.

Great thread! It took me forever to dare to video myself, however once I got over the nerves of having a camera running I found it such a useful tool, so now I record most of what I do. It really helps me keep track & often surprises me too.
Grayeyes, how do you pick out a still from a movie? I use iPhone too & edit my videos with iMovie, it would be such a useful thing to be able to do. -
PoleAndAerial.com is also good, lots of different disciplines but quite expensive too.

It should be possible to straighten the ankle fully & have a great line without worrying too much about the tips of the toes when you’re wearing heels. I’ve seen soft-soled heels for ballroom dancing which DO allow the foot to be pointed however, They look really nice but with less visual impact than our beloved platforms!
If you’re worried about strengthening the feet, I know Veena’s got some great lessons on here to help. -
I’m a bit of a lower leg leaner too! I’ve really tried to go the other way but just end up sliding slowly downwards.
For me, I only feel locked in place with the top leg pressing in towards the pole. I’m so relieved it’s not the wrong way. -

Standing next to your pole, place a looped theraband around the offending ankle (tieing round the base of the pole works great) making sure it wraps your heel & is under medium tension.
Do as many slow raises as you are comfortable with without letting that ankle roll out wards. On me this strengthened the outer lower leg muscles to keep everything under more control! -
I found my new fave pole shorts in the Bloch shop in London, they’ve also got a website. They’re soooo purple & stretchy, I love them!
Bloch design everything for ballet dancers so they stay put really well, I haven’t scared myself in the mirror yet. -

I’ve been working on my splits about four times a week, I feel like the progress has been quite slow but given where I started from its looking better. I’m not giving trying to get them. Ever!

If you we’re able to mask off the rest of the shoe & spray lightly to get even coverage. Not sure if you can get it where you are, but there’s a craft brand of spray paint called plasticote which works on most surfaces.

Voted for you Veena, good luck! X

If the quality of the website is anything to go by then I would say the clothing should be good, I haven’t got anything by them but I love some of the designs!
