last time i danced i climbed upside on spin mode for a while and the next day my hamstrings were sorer then they usually are when i go to the gym and do heavy squats!!!
deadlifts are also really good for the hamstrings but make sure you are doing them right cause you can hurt your lower back.
i am definitley going to start practicing side climbing which i have been neglecting because it is so much harder lol but i really want to learn the knee hold and i know my lower body is stronger then my upper body…..we will see!!! -
My number one eating healthy advice to every one is to try to eat as much leafy green vegetables as possible! iceberg lettuce dosn’t count!lol! kale, chard and spinach are my faves. whatever your goal, they are the most neglected yet most important things to eat!

lol this is so true, moves are so different person to person! i can climb upside down, do gemini to scorpio (or vice versa i’m not sure which is which) switch, butterfly, all of those no problem, AND on spin mode too! but i can’t chopper!!! not for the life of me! lol i have been working my abs extra hard in the gym to try to get it!

my pole has only left indents in the paint which can easily be fixed when u move out if u are a renter! I am just going to lightly sand over it, but honestly i dont think my landlord will notice! i think this also has to do with my guy friends playing around on my pole! they are a lot stronger/heavier and on spin mode they really put that pole to work!! i am sure u will be fine and will be able to get your security deposit back with minor touch ups!!

you are amazing!!! that is my goal to flip all over the city!! how long have u been pole dancing for?

totally right, to be able to see the muscles of the six pack you’ve got to have a pretty low body fat percentage. Which definitely involves diet, but also total body weights (focusing on large muscle groups) to rev up your metabolism and cardio.
speaking of abs, anyone have a good ab routine that would help with pole work? particularly for doing choppers, i still cant do them even though i can invert! I already do the hanging "pole up" pole sit up things but it would be super awesome to here what some of u advanced girls do! -
speaking of shoes…. does anyone know a good pair of boots for dancing? I tried dancing in a pair of boots that i have and i loved the momentum that the platform gave me but the buckles ended up cutting my shins up. I am not a heel kinda girl and really like the "hardcore" looking boots……

if you bring in any playbill (i used one from school and it wasn’t even for a full play just 1 act we had as an exam) then it is no initiation fee, 50 a month, month to month so no contract and you can go to any crunch in the manhattan n bk which is cool cuz then you can go to all the classes! I signed up at the location on 12th st and 4th ave with dawn she is very nice! they also have classes at that location. there is also another really fun class called anti gravity yoga which i think if you like pole you would probably enjoy! if you actually sign up go to dawn and say my name, i will get a free month hehe

There are a bunch of crunch gyms all over the city and i think about 4 that have pole classes. Getting a membership there is the cheapest way to go about lessons in the city. i have an actor’s discount where it is 50 a month for all of the gyms in the city, but you probly wouldn’t want to join if you are just visiting! if you go to their website i think you can print out a free day pass. There is a dance studio on 28th and park called shokra studios and they have classes that are 20 dollars each (i think you get a discount if you buy ten at a time) and i went there twice and it was fun, but it was a very beginner class. If you go there go to Marlo’s class, she is an amazing pole dancer and she does this thing called polerider (look it up!) which is pretty amazing. I haven’t taken classes anywhere else in the city because they are all a lot more money but there is new york pole dancing, s factor and of coarse exotic dance.

hello from brooklyn! I used to pole at crunch gym, but now i just pole at home since i finally got one! I live in williamsburg and anyone who know nyc knows space is limited so some moves i have to be careful. And i pull my futon down and sleep next to my pole (i have gotten lazy about taking it down). My lease is up the end of September and I am hoping that my new place will have enough room for it! I’m also new to the forum and i love it!
