I’ll for sure be in Sydney and Melbourne (in touch with pole divas about workshops/drop ins, yay!).
Perth is looking hard to get to, timewise, so hopefully Allegra will be offering workshops or maybe a private in Sydney during the comp (hint hint =P)?
Really looking for studios that offer drop ins or workshops, or names of instructors to book a private with, and I tend to prefer learning the more athletic tricks and transitions.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the responses!
Found the deal through Quantas… apparently if you book flights in the off season for the next off season they’re quite a bit cheaper.
As soon as I get an idea of when I’ll be where, I’ll let you know.
    Look forward to seeing you!

Yeah, definitely haven’t been doing the shoulder mount since I tweaked it. I’ll give the curls a try, they’ve never been my favorite exercise, so that must mean they’re good for me. =)
I sprained my wrist years ago scooping ice cream when I worked at Ben & Jerry’s, lame story, i know. Didn’t know enough then to realize that just because it stopped hurting didn’t mean it was healed.

I want to try to hit up east and west coast, and hopefully NZ for a weekish. I booked the flight when it was on sale, figured I could plan the rest later https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Ideally want to hit up studios where ever I go, and like a true addict, I’m willing to plan where I go around where the studios are!

try getting into it from an apprentice. if your right side is to the pole, apprentice up, bring the left knee a little through the hole, squeeze the pole with your thighs (think a tucked ball squeezing the pole). bring the right hand up (bottom hand) to grab behind the right knee. you should roll right into position as you try to straighten the legs. had a workshop with jenyne recently, she taught this intro and it is sooo much easier than the scorpio intro. i find my body falls into position, rather than having to think about rolling into position. good luck!

So I talked to a physical therapist friend of mine. Turns out I should have done that before the chiro. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif Not only is my wrist hurting constantly since he’s been working on it, it has also moved up into my elbow (which has NEVER hurt before). My PT friend says my tendons are inflamed, and it turns out the stretches my chiro gave me for my wrist stretch the wrong tendons. I can feel the inflammation in the tendon just by pressing on my arm. *sigh* The next time I see him I’ll tell him to just leave it alone. When I get back from vacation I’m going to a PT. If anyone is interested in the exercises/stretches they give me, just let me know. Thanks for all the advice ladies, sometimes it’s good to have the reassurance that you can question your doctor!

Once you get the knee hold, how do you keep it? I can do it if I’m CRAZY warmed up (and the pole is pretty toasty too). But you see performers do it all the time at the top of the pole, which I doubt is warm, so how the heck do you hold it on a cold pole?

He knows what I do. He got super awkward and embarrassed when I explained it to him, though. Thought a pole was horizontal. Hehe. I have nothing against chiro, I’ve been going since I was little (minus time off in college which is when I sprained my wrist in the first place). I also pop like popcorn. But the wrist popping is painful. Nothing else is. It doesn’t feel like muscle pain, it feels like it’s in the wrist joint itself. I guess I’m just frustrated and needed to vent, but the constant ache is getting on my nerves. I see him again on Friday, I’ll ask him about it and see what he has to say. Thanks ladies!

I gave myself whiplash doing an incorrect somersault. My chiropractor actually asked if I’d been in a car accident. Explaining that one away was not one of my finer moments. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

So this is how I picture it:

    Briefly in rockstar spin,
    drop bottom hand underneath,
move outside hooked leg to opposite side of pole, (can this step be left out?)
    apprentice up into butterfly

Does that sound right? I’m having trouble apprenticing while spinning, any suggestions?

Just so y’all know, if you request a top loading pole, they still also include the attachment to make it bottom loading. Two options for the price of one, not bad. I’ve been on and off the phone with them quite a bit over the last few weeks getting my order sorted out, and their customer service has been awesome. Everything is dealt with promptly and professionally. And yay for the 45mm pole! Whole new levels of pole burn though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
