If you can find a copy of the ab ripper portion of p90x it works wonders. It’s killer in the beginning (think weeks to months) but it got me my ariel invert on both sides!

I’m short waisted too and thought I was going to crack a rib when I first started trying this one. Try going into it from a flatline scorpio, get that inside hand in place, then roll your outside shoulder to the floor. That forces the pole into the soft spot between your hip and ribs and forces the back to arch as you roll down. This worked for me at least, and now I get the pole in the right spot every time – no bruises but plenty of pole burn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I would guess it applies to the regular diameter as well, but I’m not sure. Got back from vacation, opened my pole box (yay!) and they sent me the wrong pole! Gahhh. Someone else’s order. *sigh* I too will be making a call tomorrow. The one they sent is the bottom loader and I tried holding the bottom half of a split grip over the cover piece (without the pole put together) and it felt weird! It might be okay if you could be sure to position your grip always above or below the diameter change, but sliding over it wasn’t pleasant. If you don’t have high ceilings and will end up using the bottom of the pole, I’d go top loading. If you’re from SC and reading this… I might have your pole!

Apparently all you have to do to get a top loading platinum stages 45mm is to ask. Lol. That’ll teach me not to call customer service. When you order online just write "please make top loading" in the comment box. No extra charge. It should be here next week. Yay!

I have crazy commitment issues with this move! What helps for me is setting up the mirror so I can look into it without turning my head at all, then you can see exactly how far you have to go to get your feet to the pole. I guess someday I’ll try it without the mirror, but for now I like to see what I’m doing. =)

If you go into it from a flatline, it moves the pole from your ribs to the nice squishy organs. =)

That does help, actually. =) I’ve only used the x-stage from x-pole, I haven’t tried their removable ones. On the x-stage the holes at the center connection are really rough… is it just a problem with that particular pole? If the removable ones don’t have them in the center or are smoother, that wouldn’t be too bad. Any idea how chrome compares to a well seasoned stainless?

I’ve had students who get crazy motion sickness from transitions, let alone spins. They take dramamine (sp?) or use those wrist bracelets that are supposed to help control vertigo. Eventually they forget to take it/bring it, and find that they are fine. =) It should go away eventually, but in the meantime use whatever you can to control it, ’cause pole dancing is too darn fun to skip!

There was a link on here awhile ago to a youtube video explaining how some people were physically unable to do a sm? Something about the way the tendons and muscles were aligned. Maybe they don’t want people to feel bad if they can’t…. I say grab a friend, veena’s lessons, and practice at home. Spotter and correct instruction, all in one go https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Startin’ to feel like the PS stainless needs a shout out here. I have one and love it! It’s the older non-bottom loader type, and it work great on static and spinny. No annoying seams like the xpole, no annoying spinny screw like lil mynx. The pin for spinny is solid and if you lose it they’ll send a whole bag of new ones. The only grip issues I had were when I first got it. Once you ‘condition’ the pole, the grip is fine. If it’s really cold and you’re not warmed up, it will be a bit slick, but grab a grip aid or turn up the heater and you’re fine. <3 my platinum stages multi piece! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
