Shay- this stuff works really well imo. But, I don’t think you can use it on hands, only legs and other parts of body.

Off subject, but do you fellow silkers know a good place to get cool leggings for silks? I can’t find anything tight anywhere!

The short answer is YES! Poleing will definately help with your depression and anxiety. First, exercise alone will help, but pole is fun and very addictive, so it gives you something to focus on, aspire for, etc.
I think I was somewhat depressed when I first started poleing, and I can sometimes get strange social anxiety. Pole has helped me a lot with both.
Also, I love StudioVeena. You are absolutely right about the great sister/brotherhood that we have all formed with eachother, it’s great to have this huge support system behind you!
Do you have a pole at home that you can dance on whenever you are feeling down? I find that I dance my feeling out a lot, whether they are happy, angry, sad, blah, etc. Music is so therapeutic and moving to it while gaining strength is the perfect mix!!!
    Welcome!

    Hooked-Did you order a new pole???? TG????? Wahoo! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Let me know how the sanding goes please. Otherwise I’m tempted to sell it right away. What’s another brand? is the TG Xpert sold in the united states? If not, do you know what a good brand here is? Anyone have any advice about the finger joints and gripping tightly? I think it’s my slippery pole that is contributing. Since stopping, my fingers have been a lot better.

Oh and what do you mean by "warming up the pole" before sanding it??

    Thanks.

You can get the Titanium Gold (TG) Xpert in the U.S. :
http://www.xpoleus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but you should order it from http://www.houseofpole.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; because she is a veener and often has great shipping deals!
You should be warming up your pole before practice everytime (helps with grip, a cold pole is extra slick). If you are taking veenas lessons she has a "warm up" vid that warms both you and your pole. If I don’t have time to do the full warmup, I usually do some spins to get it warm.

I have no real words of wisdom. I had the ss lil mynx too and I know your pain girl. I felt like my entire poleing practice was just TRYING to do things that I knew I could already do on other poles. I also felt like I injured myself on it a couple times because of the slip. I would try to do a spin and almost fly off the pole so I’d tweak a shoulder muscle or something. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif
I used to say the same thing "If I can get good on this pole, I’ll be great" but like you said, there was no getting good on it. It was so tempermental I never knew what practice was going to be like on it.
One day I was fed up, put it for sale in the classifieds, sold it and upgraded to a TG xpert. Best decision of my poleing life. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
*It was always a bit grippier when really really warm though. Veenas warmup lesson seemed to be perfect for warming it up and getting a good stick out of it.

Yea, I sold it pretty quickly. I put an add on a local online classifieds site and had 3 people interested. I just had to sell it for 130 because no one would offer me more than that.
I used to have a horrible time with spins on the mynx, especially one handed spins…I would almost fly off into the horizon. I never used any grip aids for holds or inverts on it, but probably should have because I was constantly sliding. I do fine with spins on the TG. It sometimes gives me calluses on nights I do a lot of spinning, but it’s not too tough, like on brass. When I spin on brass, my wrist skin gets grabbed and stuck and it stops my spin or makes spinning painful. That doesn’t happen with the TG at all. I seriously think it’s the perfect pole. I never think "Ugh I wish this was less/more grippy." It just works for me no matter what.
Grip is a non issue now. I am totally focused on form and never worry about sliding or slipping, which is all I was focused on with the ss. When I first got it (TG), it was slick and I got worried, but after washing it down and warming it up, it’s been the perfect pole. It definately gives me pole burn more than the mynx…because it’s gripping my skin so well. It’s hard for me to tell since I’ve also worked on brass which takes the award for pole burn.
I’m pretty sure I’ve heard veena say that when cold, the titanium is more grippy than the chrome, but warm they are similar in grip. Have you asked her what she thinks? I know it’s a tough call. I was really stressing over the decision too, but I am sooooo happy I got the TG.
Wow…I should be an xpole rep! I sound like I work for them or something! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Here is mine: Oops! There are some type-os. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

    To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Sage Sitton-Leppala, and I have been a long time M&Ms fan. M&Ms have always been my candy of choice, but recently an event has taken place where I feel that I and many friends of mine have been victims of a prejudice on your company’s behalf.
I’m referencing a recent order placed by Christopher Brand (order number: 0010544613). Your company’s decision not to fulfill this order because of an uneducated, ignorant and hypocritical prejudice has greatly offended the thousands of men and women in the pole fitness community. Our sport, which is being considered for the Olympics, deserves to be respected as any other sport. By denying those in the pole community the same courtesies you offer to other athletes, you have shown how truly intolerant you are as a company. I’m not sure your company understands what a big mistake this was.
The intended recipient of these custom M&Ms is an important and highly respected pioneer of the pole community. She is the friend, instructor, and inspiration of thousands around the world. Pole fitness is a constantly growing sport, and your company treated Christopher Brand like his money and business were not valuable to you because you assumed that the image was that of a stripper. Which it wasn’t, but even if it had been, is it a common practice of your corporation to degrade people based on their profession? The image is of a very talented athlete doing an extremely difficult pole hold that requires a lot of strength, balance, flexibility and focus.
As far as being a "family company", which is what was told to Christopher Brand during his phone conversation (also pretty degrading, considering he is the loving father of 4 children) I can’t help but laugh at the hypocrisy behind the statement. Your ad campaign for the "Green M&M" have bothered me as a mother for some time now. I don’t understand why you have to make the female M&M the sexy sexual one while all the males are doofus like characters. Nice job feeding into the "sex sells" propaganda. After hearing about your adamant disapproval of "strippers" or "stripper poles" as your employees so loving called our chosen exercise equipment, I was offended for a couple reasons. First, as a huge corporation, I would think you would all be educated and train your employees that NO prejudice will be tolerated. I suppose you are only concerned with racism, sexism, etc. I guess it didn’t occur to you that treating someone like a lesser person because of the occupation you *think* they do is just as bad a treating them differently based on their skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. How disgusting. Shame on you.
Now, let’s talk about the hypocrisy of your company. Please watch the following commercial, a commercial that was produced by you, where the Green M&M is…ahem…on a "stripper pole" …stripping!!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKnCLHX6X4k" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess I’m confused, what exactly says "Family Company" about this commercial?
Shame on your company, you have lost a lifelong customer in me, and many others in the pole community. We will be expecting an apology to Christopher Brand for the way you treated him and his family, and also to the entire pole community for treating us like insignificant people, customers, and athletes.

    Sage Leppala
