I have a no tab lyra. Right now it's rigged as a single point and hasn't moved. I would think double point (haven't tried that yet) would be less likely to move.

I wouldn't take 'supplements' to help me 'build muscle' or be 'toned'…no way. I think of those in the same light as diet pills.

However, I do take quality supplements to help make up for what my diet may be lacking. Emphasis on quality, most supplements you would buy at Walmart are 'cheap' in every sense of the word. I buy mine either online or at a health food store, and I do my research.

One more thing..if you can get the money together to buy the $179 pole, you can hang on a little longer to save enough for a lil mynx (which won't be that much more), unless you find one on craigslist for cheaper! I'd even sell furniture, household stuff etc that I didn't really 'need' to go to the pole fund. You won't regret it.

You'll pay more for a cheap pole, because you'll end up buying a real one and the cheap one will have no resale value!

I have purchased 2 used poles–one lil mynx static powder coat for $125 and one xpole static/spin for $225 (I think).

    Search craigslist!

Hi Emnemz, you will always lean a bit toward your inside arm since it's lower, so no worries there. Your inverts look good!

The pain you feel is probably your rhomboids and they need to be strengthened more, so my advice would be to do strength exercises to target them and see if that helps. Also be sure you never 'drop out' of your V's suddenly, this can cause pain too.

Are you working on your inverts on both sides though? This is SUPER important, so if you're not, definitely start doing that! GL!

Hi there, welcome to pole! My pole path has been pretty 'stop and start' and 'on my own', so it's quite a bit different than most who started in a studio and/or with this site. To answer your questions…where did YOU start? What did you start with, and how long did you practice the one specific thing before you threw ANYTHING at all else in?

I started at home and didn't step foot into a studio or meet another poler IRL until 2 years ago. I didn't have a plan really, only a list/dvd of beginner spins and some pictures and descriptions of more intermediate moves, such as climbs, sits, inversions, etc. I started with spins, and I only knew a few so I got really good at them, lol. Same thing with everything else, I had a very limited repertoire. I didn't know many 'pole conditioning' moves per se, but so often our pole moves are conditioning moves anyway.

BTW, my pole girls start prepping for climbs after 3 months with me and start climbing/sitting at 4 months. I really stress to them to be grounded FIRST and why that's important. If you think of pole in 'phases'…the first phase is long. Or it seems that way to students. It's acquiring strength, body awareness, appreciation of the difficulty, patience, learning to move in a circular way which is so different than what we're used to…it's an important foundation and I do not like to rush through that phase, because to do so means missing out on some important things, and in the grand scheme things it's not really that long overall. 🙂

Wondering the same thing, Polergirl. Every photo I've seen of it has the foot grip, so I think I'll just do the version where both feet are on the floor (behind the pole). That move may have another name though?

I can do the forward spinning V, but how does one do the backward spinning V?! I'm sure it's the same technique but why is it soo hardddd?! I could barely make it!!

I kept getting signed out when using safari, so I switched to chrome and it stopped. 😕

Ah, sorry, I see that you don't do it from other grips. And I guess you pole on a 38…

Hope someone else has some advice and that you feel better soon.

    I can't see the picture.

How long have you been poling? Do you do other ayshas (ie–different hand grips?) How many times per week/times per session are you doing it? What size pole are you on?

I wonder these things because TG, while 'easy' to balance in the move, is what I consider a 'pro' move. Something you should do only after developing your strength (and working on different ayshas/adv moves) for a long, long time.

Pole size matters too. I wouldn't do it on a 50 and I wouldn't do it more than 5-10 times a practice, with rest days in between. I won't teach it, either. The other grips are much easier on the joints and I'm poling for longevity!!

I agree, I saw the same thing. Peace, love, compassion preaching and all that…those tend to be the ones not living it. Wierd, huh? That's now a pet peeve of mine and a big red flag, lol. Totally agree with what you said, and I will derail too, which is why I distance myself. xoxo
