Can you do SG spins? A SG hold starting from the ground? Or does your wrist feel torque in those, too? Are you doing wrist and forearm strength exercises?

Don’t use the pad on carpet. I didn’t even need it on hardwood floors.

Lil mynx is a great pole. That, x pole and platinum stages…I’d recommend any. I only have exp with the mynx and x pole though. (I’ve owned 2 mynx’s)

My impression–I wouldn't buy it. It's $406 USD, I have no info on the mm, the finish, how the pieces lock together, how to switch from static to spin, how is the top of it held in place, AND it's top loading? I paid less than that for my X, which I knew was a good pole and knew what I was getting.

Absolutely, Reyn. Henna from hennaforhair.com is all I will EVER use. I've henna'd my hair for years and I love it.

Keep me updated on your patch test. I've toyed with the idea of dyeing my hair with some bright semi-permanent color but don't know how it would go with henna, and then back to henna.

I can't beleive there are so few choices for pole mats out there, too. I would love to get some more in our studio, but don't want those bleeping yoga direct mats. Litlbit–that is awesome!!

Fascinating discussion, and it's so interesting to read the perspectives from students, teachers, and studio owners.

I never had a classroom setting to start out with…for many of us long-time polers (Charley, Chem…I've 'known' you since the SF forum days!) we had a unique beginning that it's interesting to even ponder the situation from a student perspective. I think that, in general, students can't know what to look for, all they know is they want to POLE, but they will feel the difference between a teacher really caring about them and a teacher that is only in it for other reasons, whatever those may be. Hopefully the caring teacher is also knowledgable!

unless someone has a background in other types of fitness, they should have at least a year of pole under their belt in most circumstances. I feel like teachers need to find out who they are as dancers, and there is so much to learn, that it just takes TIME before you even get to the point where you think 'I can teach this to rooms full of students'.

Comps and titles mean nothing to me as far as teaching. As has been stated, one doesn't = the other. I want to see the instructors keep learning and love what they do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she has it set back to static, since she told me (we talked in person, I told her to post here!) that it goes down a bit and THEN gets stuck. I can't imagine what the deal is. :/

Ooh, where do you have it rigged?

Lyras can be taped or untaped…I prefer taped.
