I can't figure out how to upload a pic within this post so I posted one here: https://www.studioveena.com/photos/view_photo/500d8ae3-d858-4e4b-a951-02510ac37250

Keex, what are your preferred exercises and stretches for the muscle groups you listed? If it's too hard to explain is it possible to make a video or link to videos that explain it? I am always trying to learn new exercises/stretches, esp. for those areas.

This (above post) is why I have no interest in seeing pole in the Olympics. Not interested in gymnastics on a pole.

Charge a good amount. How long will you be there? What about your costuming/costs? Your time prepping for the show/setting up/tearing down?
People may think 'It's only 15 min. of dancing' and not realize you don't just show up and boom, there's an awesome perfomance.
It's hard to pinpoint a set price not knowing what your market will bear or all the specifics, but personally I wouldn't take less than 200, and I'd start out quoting a higher price than that.

thanks, guys…so much great info. I am going to buy some KT Tape tomorrow! I've never heard of it and don't really understand it but I'm willing to give it a go. 🙂

Wow, this is fairly common then unfortunately…how can this be avoided? Sucks that one second in a split can cause months of rehab. I'm going to look into some massage too I think…as well as the foam rolling.
GL Kyrelle, sorry you've pulled both. Oh, and you too, PM. :/
I'm going to be totally afraid of splits now. Everything but my hamstrings seem to be nice and loose, and now with an injury…UGH. I'm ready to give up on splits.
pity party for all of us! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I saw a tutorial once for making a mat out of 2 crib mattresses and industrial Velcro.

Yes, I was in splits and heard a loud pop too….thanks for your experiences, guys. It’s so hard to try to rest it. Crap!!

I always stress how important it is to be grounded in the earth FIRST. Strength takes time to build, and with as de-conditioned as most students are when they come in to a studio for aerials (yes, they may be 'fit', but being a runner doesn't mean they have the upper body or core strength) they are in no way ready to take their hips over head after 5 weeks.
Most women don't even have poles, so they are only able to practice one hour per week.
I always wonder what kind of dancers these studios are turning out, as I can't imagine doing all these moves so quickly and also learning how to flow them together in a dance.

I agree that it’s too much too soon. Beyond the spins and inversions…are you even pole dancing? You’re there to dance, presumably, not just trick. I wouldn’t like it as a student, and I wouldnt teach that way…

I don't record entire practices. I never have, but I try to record a dance or moves I'm working on once a week or so to critique. It's so much more manageable than picking clips out of a long pole session.
I don't do fancy editing either, I''m still just learning the basics of imovie!
