MemberApril 10, 2012 at 7:50 am in reply to: Is There A Way To Change Our Profile Age?I've wondered that, too. Right now my location says 'Trails End' and I don't know why. Tried changing it…I would like it to say Indy. 🙂

I don't care what other people think. Well, maybe I do a little, because my parents don't know (as far as I know anyway). Ha!
I also remind myself that it's THEIR issue, not mine. That what I do takes incredible strength and determination, and it hurts, too. If they think I'm going through what I do for men or attention or whatever, that's laughable. I do it for ME. Period. End of story.

Can you do a basic invert from the floor and grip below the knee?
-
can you post a vid? I'm way more visual so it will help to see it. 🙂

I just went to a Karol Helms workshop and worked on this last night! For shouldner mounts, work on deadlifting from the floor in a sit (about a 45 degree angle) and work the descent nice and controlled too.
for other inversions, do knee crunches keeping good form and your hips in front of the pole. I think Veena has lessons on these. I'm committing to really focusing on my inversion strength so I'll be doing these regularly.
good luck!

Don't feel 'limited' by pole. Try other aerials, like silks and lyra. Try other flow arts, such as hoopdancing (my other passion). ALL forms of dance are so connected and when you are always learning, your techniques will carry over and vice versa.
You can always 'clean up' your moves you already know. Play with variations. You'll never come to the end of what you can do and how you can vary your movement, in any style of dance.
Yeah and flexibility. 🙂

this is the one i have: http://www.amazon.com/VF0624-Camcorder-Optical-2-inch-Screen/dp/B002YBTWJ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332502288&sr=8-1 I don't know about wide angle, hmm. It might say in the description.
i do wish I had some of my 'firsts' recorded, such as fireman spin, invert, etc., but now when I get a new move I'll just record subsequent attempts and that's good enough for me. lol.
Video is so, soooo useful. Can't be overstated. I feel so lucky to have my music, poles, and video. 🙂

Yep! It's super easy, too. Even for me! Ha.

I have video'd on my itouch before, but it was a pain because I'd have to play music on another device. Recently I got a VADO camera and really like it.
Usually I just trim in iphoto. If I want to do more I use imovie but I don't get fancy, it's hard enough to get pole time in and I don't want to spend a lot of time editing. I also don't video every practice because I"m not going to watch everything again. I may just video something I'm working on.
HTH, good luck. 🙂

Ooh, this is cool new to me info! Ps, that vid is amazing!!

this is interesting to think about! what moves do you think are silly?
