You can actually take hoops on planes, I have friends who have, but if you're only taking one a collapsible is easier. So first, are you familiar with making hoops already? If so it'll be super easy to tell you how to do it. 🙂

Small world, Kody. We go out there every year or two to visit family. Yeah, sad to see that studio has closed, it did look awesome.
Thank you, Elektra! I will see if it's feasible for me to visit one in Boston. 🙂
That NECCA place looks fantastic! I'm hoping to do that for sure!

I've found that almost any exercise gives me a buzz at night, though I usually stretch at night and have no issues. But if I'm hooping or poling, I can stay up til past midnight, easy (and usually I crash around 10).

PS-congrats to you for dong this. Your life will be richer for it!

I do a LOT of hoop jams. Will you be outside or inside? Will there be a big enough space? Most people barely have space for one person to hoop inside, let alone 2. I've done one-on-one jams — I prefer to have a bigger group for hooping, but you can grow it later. You might do some searching to see if you can find any other hoopers in your area.
Definitely set a start and end time. One hour is good for what you're planning. When I do outside summer jams in a local park, it's for 2 hours and hoopers can come (and go) anytime in that window.
I always gladly share hoops, I don't mind if someone asks. BUT, rock your 42 incher! I LOVE my bigger hoops and used them almost exclusievely for the first 2 years I hooped.

Every few weeks or so? That sounds like a good plan.

If you’re taking your pole down, how long should you leave it down for the ceiling to re-settle? My pole has come down/shifted too, it happens to us all I think!!

Thanks Koba. 🙂 I was actually thinking of perhaps switching it, at least for the beginners. In one class I shadowed (not yours) it was toward the end which is why I had that in my mind.

Thanks Chem. I start sitting too, doing some spine circles, neck rolls, wrist and ankle rolls…I like the eyes closed idea. And dim lights.

Polefairy, What do you do in the meditation part? Sounds cool!

Ha ha Veena, I told my class I'd bring hoops in for them next time. 🙂
I spend a good 20-30 minutes doing warm-ups and conditioning, but I do conditioning toward the end (it's a 90 min class). I love to incorporate floorwork in the warmup, as it doubles as practice too.

I love the Jenyne and Steven Retchless one! Beautifully done and so hilarious. Made me laugh out loud.

I did it! I think one of my attempts I started from a sit. I was able to do three hand-over-hands. I was happy with that, but so exhausted I couldn't imagine incorporating that into a freestyle, I was done! Ha.
Amy, off to check out your blog post about it!
