If it helps, you may see 3 of my videos which features lyra in it? (2015 October challenge, Aerial hoop freestyle and Aerial hoop/lyra dance).
My ceiling height is around 9.25 feet, although I’m not tall at all, it still pose a challenge for me to do much. Either hang it up higher, so I can do moves at lower part ie lyra; or hang it up lower, so I can do moves at top part ie rope.
See how it goes for you!

Yay congratulations, Gena!

So sorry to hear this! 🙁 I feel you!
5 months ago I injured my left wrist ligament from doing a drop on aerial hoop. When it happened, I also instantly knew something wasn’t right and was in immense pain.
Visited my chiro and told me to take a rest for at least a month, no any strenuous exercise or even movement that involved hands. Even after a month, I still cautiously starting taking up pole/aerials because I still feel pain every now and then, so didn’t push it. Fortunately, now it’s fully healed.
Yes, you are very right in taking time off to let it fully heal! Nothing is more important than listening to your body. All the others like pole can wait, this is so true!
I wish you a full and speedy recovery, and looking forward to see your vids again by then! -
And not forgetting sad girl drop, especially starting up high up and end at near bottom, general audience love it as it seems ‘dramatic’ 😉 Good luck with your performance!

Your Halloween challenge videos have always been fun and creative, Veena! Ok, we’ll wait & see…! 😉

Is this your costume for the challenge? It’s so rad!! Can’t wait to see your vid, Veena!

Hi, it’s good to hear you are planning to take up aerial silks, however I concur with everyone that it’s best to get a personal instruction to learn aerial silks.
Yes, learning every aerial stuff like pole, lyra, etc. needs safety precaution. But, what sets aerial silks apart is one needs to be well versed in how to wrap, how to thread your fabric or legs, etc to do the moves. As one gets more advanced and starting to learn drops, it’s very dangerous if one doesn’t get the correct wrap.
From my own experience, I’m comfortable with learning pole, lyra and even hammock on my own. But when it comes to aerial silks, I still look for instructors to get the proper instruction.
Please let us know how it goes!

Welcome back! I was off the pole for 2 years, too. When I started to pick it up again, somehow I took up aerial silk and lyra, too, yikes!

Thanks for sharing, have not seen tippy lyra before! Can’t imagine, must be very tippy! Share more of your experience, how is the technique different from a normal lyra!

When I got my xpole the first time, I found out one of the hex screws can’t never be tighten. Whenever I do a few moves on static mode, the pole always rotate slightly. Then, I changed both hex screws with new ones, but no luck, still giving me the same problem. I sort of can ‘live’ with this rotating pole, lol but sometimes it’s just kind of annoying. :/ yup, curious to hear what’s the remedy to this problem

Unfortunately, yes, there are not too many studios around here & yes, all their websites are in Chinese. I can PM you the studios' links & feel free to PM me if you have any other question or would like to have a pole buddy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Good luck in your move!
