Make sure you have the leg positioning right, check a video that shows how to do a pole climb. Also make sure your body is warm, you will stick better to the pole. Keep trying! Just trying to do the pole climb is working the muscles you need to be able to do the pole climb. Everybody gets moves at different levels, so keep trying and you will get it. Watch lots of videos of people doing the moves you want to learn and envision yourself doing the move, You will get it!

I suggest for a challenge to have a "the way I dance when no one is watching" dance. This idea is inspired from this video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYOhghp6Lic&feature=related

I think she changed the names of her video’s because I’m pretty sure this one was entittled "the way I dance when no one is watching"

I just think she looks so cute, and like she is having so much fun! Not too much technical moves but just heart, and feeling and fun! (her other video just reek of emotional connection to the music, very inspring!)

I think it would be fun to do a dance just for fun and to just feel the music and have fun!

October 3, 2010 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Fat Graphing for breasts

My mother in law had something like this done. She had a breast removed due to cancer and then had an implant put in. She disliked it very much and said it was so weird having this perky forein thing in one side and then on the other side natural and 45 years old. So after much complaining to her dr. they removed it and had it fat graphed. If she wanted to ever pole dance it would be extreamly difficult! They had to take all the muscle from her left side abs and literally push them up into her breast. She only has ab muscles on one side now. Fat needs muscle to be able to have blood flow and such so they had to do that as well as adding fat they got from doing a small tummy tuck. She had to relearn how to sit up, and it was a very long recovery time, not being able to lift things etc. She is all fine and healed up now, 8 months later. She likes it much better than her implant, but I remember thinking about how she wont ever be able to try pole dancing now that half her abs are gone! I’m not sure if it is the same for people who already have breasts and stuff but that was her experience.

Personally, I always wanted bigger breasts. I was an A/B before I had my son and when I had him and breast fed I went up to a C/D! I hated it! I hated being around my dad with my new body, I didn’t like the attention at all! Now I’m back to my old self and happy that I had that experience before I went out and paid a bunch to have them bigger. I think small breasted girls are beautiful, and can wear a lot more than big breasted girls. Just my opinion. Good luck! Love yourself!

Shadow on the sun – Audioslave
Honey honey, Water, Limit to your love – Feist
    Ayo Technology -Milow
    I’m in Miami – LMFAO
I get so Lonely – Janet Jackson
Stop crying your heart out – Oasis
Dip it low – Christina Milian
Buttons or Don’t cha – pussy cat dolls
    #1 Crush – Garbage

Once, at the school playground with my 6 yr old son, he grabbed me and dragged me over to the fire man pole and said "look mom! You can pole dance while I play!" I just laughed and said that not everybody knows what pole dancing is and they might not understand it so no thanks. I am a young mother (I look even younger and get mistaken for 18!) and I feel people already look at me funny with a 6 year old, I’d rather him not tell anyone that I pole dance too. But I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, he thinks there is nothing wrong with it, it is just exercise and dance, and I worry what will happen if he finds out from someone else about the negative connotations.

This thread is so interesting! I love hearing all the stories about how people thought up their nicknames!

I was a huge Mortal combat fan, and Kitana was my fav, with those cool fan weapons she had .I played the super nintendo one (very old).

Chemgodess – I was always intrigued by that name because when I was a teenager I was a raver and the thing to do at Raves was ecstacy and everyone would always say "know your chemist" to refer to knowing where you got the drugs from, when in reality the person we were buying it from didn’t know the chemist, and I’m willing to bet that the person he bought it from didn’t know the chemist!! Wow, the stupid things teenagers do makes me really happy that I am not a teenager anymore!!

I chose my name because I’m a sucker for stars and all star related things and on tv one time I heard someone describe someone else as being so beautiful she "put the stars to shame" and I thought that was really cute. My real name is Tasha. I usually sign up for things using my email name happy_tasha , cause I’m a happy girl, but this time I wanted to be more anonymous so that nobody could find me on here. When I first started poling I kept it quiet for the most part, I was afraid people wouldn’t understand, and some still don’t! yuk.

July 23, 2010 at 8:29 pm in reply to: Suck it up and take a class… or just buy?

Go to a park late at night when there are no kids and give it a try with some friends on the fireman pole.

I never took a class, or any lessions, I made a crappy pole at home and I was so discouraged cuz it was so hard and I couldn’t even do a basic spin! It was really hard, I have always lacked upper body strength and I felt like a total failure! Maybe classes would have helped me but I took break dancing classes, tap dancing classes, gymnastics, and joined 3 gyms and never stuck with any of that, having the pole in my home is what made me keep trying. If you are really nervous about going out to classes just buy one, if you love the way it looks and you invested all that money than you will probably stick with it. I eventually loved it so much I bought an x-pole. TaraKarina on youtube and on this site has mentioned having anxiety about going out and she is the one who inspired me to start poling in the first place she took the lessions here on StudioVeena. Take the lessions on StudioVeena, I hear they help a lot. I feel like I would have progressed much more quickly if I had a class or a lession to help me along and keep me at it.

So that is just my story but everyone is different. You know yourself so do what is in your pole-heart and Good Luck!!!

July 23, 2010 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Making a pole?

I made a pole out of a 1 1/2 inch galvanized steel pipe with a flange on either end. It was ok so that I had something to learn on and get good enough to justify spending nearly $400 CDN on an X-pole. I spray painted it silver and then with clear acrylic spray paint to give it grip. The first pole vid I made is of that pole. The problems were that I had to bolt it to my ceiling and floor so when i took it down I now have a big hole in my floor and ceiling. Also, it’s wasn’t an x-pole. I always get excited about things and then never finish them. I have nearly a dozen half crocheted things and art projects and things I never finshed so if your someone like me than it was a good way to try it out for cheap before investing, but I LOVED IT! So I saved for a long time and just bought an x -pole from this most wonderful website! I must live near the distributing wearhouse because I got it that very day!!! That very day!! Amagine my shock when it arrived, it took more than 2 weeks to transfer the money into my pay apl account and I got the pole the same day I ordered it! SO the point is, some of the other home made poles on here look better than the one I made and it is a good way to see if you are into it but once you have a few months under your belt, or if you ever try an x-pole, you will be saving your pennies cuz it honestly is the best thing I ever invested in. It has changed my life more than I can say in this one little post (not just the x -pole but poling in general)!!

My pole is also right in front of my front door! Whenever the super comes in to check something (we have had 3 this year) I always think, "oh god! what is he going to think" But most people who come in don’t even notice it for like 30 minutes and then they are like "whoa! where did this come from!" lol. My son is 6 and he just thinks it is for fun, I even do a move I call the spiderman, cuz it kinda looks like spiderman hanging on his spiderthread, he likes it and he knows I am dying to do the superman and asks me all the time, "can you do it yet?" Other than that he has no interest in playing on it, and I do nothing sexy when he is around. Although I do worry about when he first learns about pole dancing in strip clubs but I figure by the time he does it will probably be more mainstream and he will also be used to seeing it as a thing of dance and sport.

July 23, 2010 at 2:46 pm in reply to: Favorite Pole Pose?

It keeps changing whenever I see a new move, at first it was the Ayasha, then the jade, then the ballerina that felix did in the performance that won her miss pole aussie (actually that whole dance is my all time fav pole dance), now it is this cool thing I seen Fleur do, but I don’t know what it is, and this other move I don’t know the name of that kinda is like a ballerina but not flexy, but ur body is still wrapped around the pole up high and u just kinda spin there on spinny mode, I don’t know what it’s called. Sorry, I wish every vid would come with an index of the names of the moves, lol.

July 20, 2010 at 9:27 pm in reply to: I need serious life advice and I need it today

I agree with Jenn and Veena about fate, and making things happen for yourself. Everytime I waited for something to happen it didn’t until I did something about it. I had a friend say that because she didn’t get accepted into college that is wasn’t ment to be. NO! because she spent her time fooling around instead of doing her homework she didn’t get into college. You have to fight and work for what you want, and Veena is right, it just makes the results that much more satisfying. A bigger place, with floor to ceiling mirrors and your own pole space!!!! Amazing! A safer neighbourhood? Better!! If there is fate or god or whatever, then it is probably just trying to make you realise how bad you want it, and make you work for it to really appreciate it.

Also the only person you can rely on is yourself (and sometimes even I let myself down)

And when you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

Move!! You will feel better when you are settled. Then go to ikea and buy some nice things to make it feel Zen worthy (or whatever peace inspired thing you like)

    Good Luck!

July 19, 2010 at 7:48 pm in reply to: FB vs pole torn

There was a forum post up about a girl getting kicked off FB cuz of her pole pics, that freaked me out! I don’t really have pole pics of me on FB because I have my son’s friend’s parents and co workers on FB and I know know that some people don’t understand it. I tell people that StudioVeena is like FB but for polers and this is where I express my pole fun and meet other polers! So if you wanna put up pole pics and vids, I’d make a second account just to save your self from the same old "I’m not a stripper, I do it for fun/exercise, stop offering me twenties"
