I have this problem too, I think it is because My hubby installed the pole for me and overtightened it perhaps warping it. I tried to stay off it but I just can’t so I just dance on it anyway. I have tried all the things in this forum. I dont think its a manufactures defect cuz it didn’t do this before, only when I took it down and putit back up it started doing it. I was told I might have it to tight so I loosened it to the point that it didn’t stick anymore but then it fell over! So now I just dance on it, but I also am afraid of wrecking it more. So please update us if you found out whats the deal.

My aunt got kicked of FB like 3 times for writing anti bush comments, weird. She just makes a new email address and then sets up a new account with her middle name, or a alternate last name, or something like that. They don’t really catch on til you start pissing people off again. Good Luck!!

    P.S.

They have a pole stars fan page and group, is that sexually suggestive?

I try to end each of my practices with a try at spinny mode. I do the scorpio to gemini, practice the pole sit in spinny (so one day i can get the CAR in spinny) and the back leg hook, and the fireman, but I find that you can’t do spins the same way as on static. My fav in spinny in a very slow reverse pin wheel. Go into it slow with large movement in your legs and it looks really pretty if you can hold it, after about 2 weeks I could hold it long enough to make it look like a trick. I also just try to lift my self up while spinning-on youtube in Rhiannannicole’s vids she does this and makes it look nice, she always goes on spin and it looks great. Watch her vids to get more ideas for spin. She doesn’t do too many spins, and her oldest videos are the best in my opinion. Good Luck!!

Thank you to all the ladies for their advice as I too have the prob with the unsupportive bf. But he is slowly coming around. My bf of almost 12 years used to say he hates that I pole, well maybe not hates but thats the word that he used. When I try to show him a new move he says it makes him angry. He can’t or wont explain why. That is why this site is so wonderful! You find people who understand what you are doing! It just sucks that you are so excited about something and you want to share it with the most important person in your life and they are uninterested. I just tell my best friend, and show her my moves, and pole when he is not at home. SO then months went by, I didn’t show him any pole dancing but I continued to express my intrest about pole dancing. I bought one without telling him and it just showed up here and he was like where’d the money come from? (I had secretly been saving in my paypal account) Anyway, I ordered some cute outfits from ebay, and one night I showed him everything I learned in a sexy dance and afterward he said "Wow, you got good!" He is slowly getting more ok with it. I was really afraid to dance for him before because it felt so awkward and I couldn’t do any moves, or finish them nicely so perhaps he was mad that I never danced for him. So now I try to dance for him more and last night he said he would be ok with me pole dancing at a bar if we ever went to one with a pole (before he hated if I showed other people pole dancing and would even leave if I started to pole infront of people). And last night he finially told one of his friends that I pole dance! So very slowly he is coming around. Make sure you tell ur bf that you will not tolerate being put down for something you enjoy and keep doing it. Hopefully he will come around. Good luck!

I have a 5 yr old son and he is simply not interested in the pole at all, but when my 6 and 10 yr old cousins come over they love it on spinny mode and they climb it and spin around and stuff. I have showed them moves and the things I can do, their mom is cool with it but then when then tell their other grandma about it she doesn’t understand why we let them see it.

I think it is just going to take time for people to understand, my husband and dad still hate it, I hope that poling for fitness becomes more mainstream so we can be more accepted and understood.

    HI!

Try cleaning it really well. Like with soap and water or rubbing alcohol works great! There are other forums that have more non-slip tips.

    Good Luck!!

Toronto!! If she came to Toronto that would be awesome. London is a maybe, the cost to get out there and then for the workshops, and somewhere to stay really adds up when I do the math. It’s a maybe for me but I’m really going to try to make it happen!

Help! I am having this problem too!! I have tried to buy lessons but it takes to me to page that says

Link a card to make an instant bank payment

Your recipient requires instant payments. To pay instantly from your bank account, simply link a debit or credit card as a backup payment source. We’ll charge this card only if your bank payment can’t be processed.

Do I HAVE to have a CC to get lessons? I don’t own a CC, thats why I have paypal.

I have been waiting until my semester is over at school before buying them cuz if i got them while in school I wouldn’ be learning english, I’d be learning pole dancing!! Today is my first offical day of summer vaca and I want to learn!!

April 13, 2010 at 4:08 pm in reply to: What to Expect

I feel in love with the videos by Tara Karina, and Felix Cane on youtube because the ladies looked so beautiful and graceful!! I wanted to be just like them! But after watching the videos day and night waiting to get my pole, I imagined jumping on the pole and being able to invert and spin gracefully.

But boy was I wrong! I could barely do the fireman spin, I couldnt invert, and dancing around the pole made me feel so unsexy!! But the yearn for gracefulness kept me at it and after about 4 months I had lost 10 lbs! The last 10 lbs which is so hard to lose! And keep off!

I still get bruises and I hurt when I try new moves but it is all worth it when I can carry many of groceries all by my self, or open jars! It’s amazing that the grip strength you gain with pole dancing means you will never need to ask a guy to open something for you! And soon, the pole will feel like an extention of your body, it will just feel right. It will feel as right as it feels wrong when you first start. I remember I kept thinking.. is it supposed to hurt THIS MUCH to do a pole sit?! Why don’t I stick?! Why am I sooo weak! But I promise it gets better. If your not into classes order veena’s lessons, they really help you to understand where your body is supposed to go.

    Good Luck!!

April 6, 2010 at 1:51 pm in reply to: Buying a pole in Canada

    Hello,

I was very afraid before I put my money down for a pole and that I would make the wrong choice and I spent a lot of time researching my options. I live in Toronto and I bought my X-pole from Studio Veena before there were all the options that there are now. I bought a 50 mm Chrome X-pole. It cost just under $400 Canadian and I got it the next day!!!!!!!!! It was perfect! With the help of my husband we put it up and I loved it!! I toyed with getting the gold one, or the 45 mm one but I wanted to be able to pole on anything so that is why i ended up getting the 50 mm. Also I heard that the gold ones can chip, yuk. Anyway,

I highly recommend buying on from Studio Veena as you can tell it is a reliable source since she has hundreds of members who are addicted to this site. And people like me who has bought a pole from here and had a great transaction with Studio Veena

Good Luck!! If you buy an X-pole you will love it!!

Wow! I’m surprised at how many people live in Southern Ontario!! I wish I could make it! But I’m in a bridal party and the shower is that day, and the last pole jam you guys had I had bridal dress shopping!! This wedding is getting in the way of me meeting some fellow polers! But as soon as you guys have one that I can attend for sure I will be there!!

I live in Toronto and I go out to Brampton all the time on the Go bus and it is really easy. I find that it is best to go to Yorkdale Terminal, you can buy your ticket there and the buses come every half an hour. The ride is like 45 min to an hour…easy peasy!

I hope to meet you all soon!!!

I am having the same problem with my pole. I have untightened it but Im afraid it might be too loose. Is there something else that could be causing this problem? even when I make it more loose it still feels different than before I took it down and put it back up. It feels the same, it sticks in one spot, and Im stuck between leveling it and tightening it, then putting it on spin and checking, then on static and then untightening, and then on spin to check again, then my arms get tired and I give up, I just can’t seem to get it right!
