Thanks I just got word back from one of the companies and they said for my purposes I could do it the way I had planned. Now if I can just sell my Rip:60 suspension trainer to get a little money towards a silk I will be happy!

I am not naturally graceful at all! I have had to learn it! I work on a pole move until I nail it most of the time then I add the extensions and pointed toes. I have also learned to slow everything down to get more seamless transitions. I still have a way to go on a lot of moves but I just keep working at it. It can be learned some of us just have to practice more.

Makes perfect sense my main concern is that however short they are they don’t end up giving the audience a crotch shot or showing a visible wedgie!

Thanks I just want to make sure before I spend the money I would be really upset if they didn’t perform any better than my $9 capezio shorts.

I like a class with a good warm up then right to the pole I like dancing but it is the hardest part for me. I have been doing pole for over three years now and when I started I couldn’t have been on the pole that long. So it depends on who your teaching.
When I teach private sessions I base it on the students level but classes are harder. I am also a personal trainer so most of my students have expected it to be light on dance and heavy on conditioning. That is kind of my brand. The studio I attend is the opposite but it keeps me on my toes to have to learn the dance moves. As a teacher there is also nothing wrong with asking you students what parts of the class they like the best. I know we went through a spell at the studio I go to where we spent 2 days a week (90 minute classes)almost exclusively on breaking down and learning routines. People including myself quit going but I kept in touch with some ladies and they let me know when that stopped. It was boring for me however I am happy to spend part of a class breaking down each detail of the routines since that is the only way I seem to be able to learn the dance section as long as we have open pole time or some time just on pole moves.

I love multi-level classes. I used to get really inspired by the ladies that were better than I was. After reading about your experience I am so grateful for the environment I learned in. All of the ladies were warm, welcoming and completely aware that it is intimidating to see advanced ladies. They were always very helpful and encouraging always reminding me that they started where I was and it took a lot of practice to get where they were.
In those classes all the ladies help each other. Our teacher actually teaches several different versions, variations or progressions of a particular move to give students something to work on then asks the newer students to meet her at another pole so she can give them a pole move to work on.
Advanced students like the open pole time, intermediate students like the ideas of what to work on and new students get a little more private attention. I think it is finding the right class too. We have another teacher and I never go to her class because I prefer the open pole time when I am in an all levels class as opposed to working on her series beginner to intermediate moves.
Since you already paid for the classes I would think the instructor would have more interest in working with you. Maybe you could ask her to teach you some things on the pole that she thinks you are ready for at least you might feel like you got something for your money.

MemberDecember 3, 2014 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Twisted grip is the bane of my exsistance tips pleaseThanks everyone. Just so you know I learned the split grip variation (Ayesha) from a Felix Cane video on pole and aerial .com I guess I handspring into it but it feels more like a cartwheel to me.
Also I purchased a video from UPA called pole power and worked a little on steps to get into cup grip. I like it it is more raw power but no pain. I have to say I like the power moves a lot.
I promise I will be careful from now on and not rush the process.

MemberDecember 3, 2014 at 3:16 pm in reply to: Twisted grip is the bane of my exsistance tips pleaseThanks chemgoddess1 I was going to come back and delete this thread but I forgot. I did some research and found that I actually can do almost any of the moves I am trying to learn without doing the twisted grip. I can either learn the cup grip or the split grip.
Thanks for your input! I am going to discontinue all work on the twisted grip and begin learning the cup grip slowly. I was just trying to learn impressive performance moves and I usually see performers and competitors using the twisted grip. If there is another way I am going to take it!
Lesson learned I will not work on a move that hurts that much before doing research to find a safer method. Plus I also learned that my time would be better spent learning to string multiple moves I already know together until I can work up to the super strength moves……or work on moves that require a lot of leg strength since I really excel in that area!
By the way I don’t think you sound like a bitch! You are always helpful and quite honestly I needed to know.

Thanks ladies I have been in contact with Charley and she has been very helpful. If there are websites and contact info for the other suggestions please send them my way. Thanks again!

Thank you chemgoddess1. I am sure you are right I will start looking for showcases. I don’t think I will be ready for at least a few months but while business is kind of slow I though I would learn what I need to do in my the most of my training time. I tend to train hardest when I have a goal date and some actual training goals and guidelines.

Oh my lord am I stupid I opened the box upside down and found the instructions when I took out the contents and flipped the box inside the box upside down!

I ordered both my xpoles on amazon I think they both came from microfiber products and they look real except one has xpole stamped on it the one I just got today has xpole stamped on and the other does not. I paid 329 for both of them. I bought them on amazon for quick shipping and points for free porducts. The pole I just got did not have instructions in the box. I dug out the instructions for my other pole and everything looks the same but the part numbers are different. Oh and the hex screws look a little different to me. Also the tools to screw in the hex screws look thicker to me than my first pole.
Otherwise they look the same to me. Is one of my poles fake or does xpole has xpole made some minor changes in the last 7 months or so? I don’t want to put up a fake pole and have my clients using it or worse yet my old pole that my clients are using if it is a fake it has been pretty sturdy but it would really worry me. It would also piss me off since I paid regular price for them.

I like my X-pole so if I do get one I would love to be able to get it from Xpole.
