Aviva, I’m just curious: How does a stripper handle things like earrings getting cought in a shirt?

    Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I too don’t think that anyone should be removed from a competition. There will always be someone who might be better. That means, that you have to train harder to win, not remove the ones that might be better!

But I guess it’s more of an image issue in this case, maybe the owner is concerned about the studio’s reputation. But as long as (former) strippers are not running around with a sign on their shirt and regarding the rules concerning clothing etc, that should totally be fine!

Try to slow down to a point where you are close to not spinning. The faster you are, the harder it is, because you are driven away from the pole.
I can only invert on a slow spinning pole for example, because it is harder the faster it gets to keep centered.

I can’t caterpillar right now due to my broken leg (no squeezing the pole with my legs), so split grip seems to be the only option (I don’t want to use tg). But I think for me it’s more about balance and fear than strength, so I guess I just need to work on that. I’ll add some hand- and elbowstands to my training. Thanks for the tipps!

For me that was a thing I couldn’t do a long time. It’s all about hand placement, just as chem said.

Stand beside the pole, extend your inside arm behind the pole.
Then grab the pole at face level, tucking the pole into your armpit.
Outside arm comes right on top.
Bring your hips in front of the pole, pull yourself up onto your toes (that will prevent you from jumping).
    Then tuck your knees.
Short before they are all up, extended your arms. Look back.
Once you start tilting back, extend your legs. That way, the weight of your legs will prevent you from tilting back again.

After I got my extended butterfly, I wanted to learn ayesha (sg) but was so scared of letting go with the legs.

Yesterday I had the chance to practise with a more experienced poler and she left her hands on my hips which really helped me mentally! (you can see a pic in my garden gallery btw)

But I couldn’t hold it for long and after reading Amy’s blog I realise I didn’t really round my back. So will try this next time. Thanks for Rüstung!

Since I got Xpoles permanent block mount mine is spinning so much smoother. Maybe that would be an option for you?

    Great idea!
By the way, I already had some of those cliche songs on my want-to-dance-to-list 😀

    Here’s my list:
    Paradise circus by massive attack
    Glory box by portishead
    Closer by nin
After dark by tito & tarantula

How many students do you have in class and do they have to share poles?

Well if the other routine is very famous and well known you might get compared to the other dancer if it’s too similar (or worse, people might say that you copyed it).
So if you want to usw it you should make sure that you add a lot of your own flavor and that the quality (music, costume, dance, …) of the performance is really good!

The superman IS painful. What seems to make a difference is to get into it from up the pole and not from the ground (that way you already have your hips down). The easiest is from a handstand (coming down from inverted crucifix for example) and really focusing on staying straight.
And it takes time to get used to it. But if you do it a few times everytime you practise, you’ll have it soon!

My current goals changed a bit due to my injury. I can’t work on my splits right now, there won’t be any spins for a while and grace is also a thing I can’t work on right now, same as floorwork.
So my current goals are more towards strength: arms-only climb, shoulder mount, handstand, flag, …
