Yes, very important! (I forgot to mention what MelanieDA said about gripping with the side). It's almost like you are wrapping your side around the pole and having it tucked in your armpit. this is particularly important when you are doing the "switch", and for tuck/pike hip holds. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

hi, i use a kodak easyshare camera (got it for $99 and they have even cheaper ones, at kodak's website). it records in .mov format which i agree is a little inconvenient. i use prism video converter – it is not free, but the quality is good. (they offer a free two week trial) and then edit with windows movie maker version 2.6. the camera is nice and small and has a USB cord to connect to computer or charger (included). kodak also makes video cameras, but since i was already used to using a regular digital camera, that's what i got. 🙂

it took me forever to get the gemini because of the pain behind my knees! you will get it with practice. now i put a little itac2 behind my knees and that also seems to help (with grip and prevention of pain and bruises). it's more "sticky" than chalk. 🙂

Jenny, the bruising will pass!! when i first started, i had terrible bruises (like the tops of my feet were totally purple). but after a couple of months, it just stopped. i never get bruises on my feet anymore. but in the meantime, you might want to get some footundeez! (discount dance supply online has them). 🙂

hi Tballerina, it sounds like you are doing great. 2 months isn't very long (though it probably feels that way)! i haven't even tried middle splits yet. actually, just by checking now, it looks like i'm about 18" away 🙁

Mechie, I also hope that it isn't too crazy out there, and that you don't have to go out much. That totally SUCKS about your vacation. I was glad to hear that your company is going to reimburse you for your airfare and any other cancellations you have to make. It sounded like such a great vacation! I hope you will be able to reschedule soon. I will thinking of you and everyone on the east coast – my mom lives in NC near the coast, but they are fine, just lost electricity (lol) and it's raining hard!! (hugs) <3

gosh, i hope you make it through the day tomorrow without it being too terrible (even though i know it will be tough). i don't understand how people can "chit chat" and have a party right after a funeral. it's almost like pretending that everything is fine, when it isn't. i think it's important to let yourself feel the sadness, and to remember the person. so if you just feel like being alone, there's nothing wrong with that. i would definitely sneak away myself.. hope you feel better soon <3

I am so sorry to hear about your father in law. I'm not very good with words, but my thoughts are with you and your family. Sending you a big hug across the ocean… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

So sorry to hear about your fall https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif !! I fell on my back from a gemini once, but luckily did not get hurt. arnica is good for bruising and soreness – traumeel gel seems to really work. I hope you feel much better soon! the other thing that could help is to use some itac or other grip aid on the parts of your body that contact the pole, like your sides and back of the knees. <3

hey Alesha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif it doesn't sound like a problem to me, since you don't have any debt, and you are paying your bills. it's great that you want to treat yourself to some nice things. maybe you could put yourself on a "pole budget" with a limit for each month, or limit the number of things you buy each month – whatever works so that you don't have the feeling of being out of control. I have definitely felt guilty at times for buying things that I don't need (like two pairs of shiny boots that I have never worn), but I think we deserve it – after all, pole is hard work, so anything that makes it more fun is well worth it! <3

hello, sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I have to agree completely with alesha84. considering everything you are going through, it seems normal that you are low on energy. it doesn't usually work to "force" yourself to practice tricks unless you are feeling strong. I recently went through some grief losing a friend and just didn't feel up to poling. I still haven't recovered the strength and enthusiasm for pole that I had before. so.. these things take time. just go easy with yourself, know that you are not alone, and hope you feel better soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
