Yeah, CA is the best as far as access to all kinds of herb.  i recently watched a good documentary on netflix (called – "the union – the business behind getting high).   hopefully people will become more educated about the medical benefits this herb has to offer, and it will become more available to people who are suffering needlessly.  Just want to wish you good luck with finding what you need…. and thanks for posting, MrsNaughtywed 🙂

I don't have much else to add except – Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif !  I found pole to be very challenging, much harder than anything I have tried to do before.  but with determination, I believe anyone in any shape or size can learn and progress.  I've seen it here!!  Just start with alot of warmup, stretching, beginner lessons, and have fun dancing!

thanks ladies…  @PlatinumAni – so sorry to hear of your losses. that's really alot to handle in such a short time. but we can't give up our poling, lol…   and Madfelice, it means alot.  it does take a time to process, I don't think it's meant to be hurried or "gotten through" quickly.  everyone needs as much time as they need..  xoxo

yes, sensualscimitar, i completely agree…  and there is a kind of depth in grieving that makes it possible to connect with these beings who have left the earth plane, the love is still totally there.  this experience compares only to when my grandmother died.  don't worry, i'm not going to go into a depression,or stop poling!  it's just like you said, taking the time to feel….

well i would say ask your doctor about clonazepam. every time i have had to get a new doctor, they try to get me to try something else (because it's addictive) and nothing else has worked, or caused terrible side effects.  i am very sensitive to meds but this works for me.  that keppra sounds awful!

hi sensual..  wow, you are really dealing with alot right now.   very good advice from reenie and aly!  i can't add much to that, but i would say try the pot – it could work.  and if not, like aly said there are so many different meds out there, so hopefully you will find something that works.  As for me, i went through a couple of years of severe chronic insomnia which was caused by emotional stress in a relationship (he was an alcoholic with borderline personality disorder).  being such a health nut, i wanted to try all the "natural" sleep aids and was afraid to go to a doctor because i thought pharmaceuticals were "bad."  looking back, i should have gone to the doctor sooner.  the insomnia progressed into anxiety, then to clinical depression.  all of these are basically the result of low levels of serotonin.  I went on Ambien (which i believe saved my life) for several years, then switched to Clonazepam (Klonopin) which is an anit-anxiety med, but works better than Ambien for me, for sleep.  (by the way Klonopin is also prescribed for seizures).  I have been able to reduce my dosage at times, but my priority is SLEEP, not how much medication i am taking.  I have no sex drive at all, but that happened after i went through early menopause/adrenal fatigue.  I recovered from that (with increased vitamin intake and certain herbs), but never got my sex drive back.  I'm about to turn 45, I'm married, so sex isn't such a big deal to me anymore.  Now I prefer back rubs or foot massages, lol.  I thought pole might help, but it didn't really, however exercise is super-important for anything related to anxiety, so I am happy to have a workout that is fun and to be a part of this community.  I wish you the best of luck with everything. 🙂

hey jorgi, so glad to hear you had a good time on the pole!  you will get your strength back soon.  to answer your question, yes i think it was the holiday.  I know some people can eat whatever they want, but in my case I seem to need good nutrition in order to function well.  will be more careful in the future…. 😉

Yeah, it's scary  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif  lol.   I think part of the problem was being on holiday – not taking my usual vitamins and green drink, or having the organic fruits and veggies that I buy at home, PLUS having tea and cookies every day, eating out at restaurants, and not working out…  it all added up, and as soon as I got home I realized I felt like crap.  I didn't think one week would make so much difference, but it did.  It made me feel like I don't want to go on holidays any more.  hopefully we will get our strength back soon!!  🙂

thanks everyone for the info on the various dvd's!!  my only dvd is pantera's pole 101 (which is pretty advanced) and sheila kelley's s factor 2 (good for a warm-up).  any dvd's i decide to buy will be in addition to Veena's lessons, not instead!!  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif  also wanted to add (for those with slow or no internet connections) that the pole dance community's syllabus of pole moves CD-ROM is great, it is very inexpensive, and i was able to put it on my computer so i don't need the disc.  i'm definitely going to look into the Art of Pole, BeSpun, and Felix's new ones.  🙂

hi jorgi  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif  just wanted to write to tell you that you are not alone!  i feel like i am going through exactly the same thing you described, and i don't understand it.  after taking a week off to go on vacation with my family, i seem to have lost all of my strength and feel too tired and weak to pole. i'm at about 11 months in my poling and thought i was making pretty good progress, until now.  thanks nymphdancer and cinara for the helpful advice!!  xoxo

Wow, thanks everyone!!  I have been totally frustrated with trying to get the splits, especially having to do so much "warm up" beforehand.  I thought that oversplits were the next step after getting the splits, so I'm glad I read this.  Will try to get that book!!  🙂

@ lizsavage – I have to agree, I hate the new X poles!!  My friend bought 6 of them, 11 feet tall.  she installed permanent ceiling mounts which have been very difficult to deal with, in fact she had to replace the first kind with a different kind that work better, but it takes forever to loosen/tighten the poles.  the poles have to be put up before each class and taken down after, since she is renting the exercise room at a gym.  But the main problem has been the stupid X joints.  She has had the exact same kind of problems you talked about, and we had to go through the whole process of taking apart, banging out with a broomstick (which broke the broomstick, lol), etc.  Their video makes it look easy, but it is not.  She had to hire a strong guy to help because the two of us could not do it, and one of the joints was so jammed that he had to take it home and use a vice to get it out.  The whole experience has been awful.  Anyway, good luck with PS and let us know how it turns out!!  I will be praying for you, lol 😉
