Get PVC or vinyl not latex. Metals degrade latex. You will end up with stains all over your latex or worse it will break.
Lina, when you put latex clothing on you either talc or lube your body first so it doesn't stick so bad. =P Then you lube or spray the outside as you mentioned. Some people use that spray on car lube stuff. Once shined up latex belongs nowhere near your pole. I once did a latex cosplay that I shined in the same room as my pole, the pole and floor were mega slippery for weeks.

I don't think there is anything wrong with encouraging a culture of informed consumers. You may look at it as "ranting online" but what about when we're raving about a product or service? I've tried to behave in a balanced way throughout the process of informing other customers about my issues with the brass X Pole and ultimately having it replaced. I understand that the associate I spoke with probably views me as a difficult customer, and since she is aware that I did complain directly to X Pole (and was funneled back to the original representative) is probably not pleased with me. I think the problem is that these people have specific job titles and responsibilities that aren't related to customer service, as such they aren't fully invested in customer care. The solution would be to appoint a customer care team, or if the business isn't big enough a customer care leader or task-force.
Because I hear so many good things about this particular contact at X Pole I don't want to complain directly to the owner of the company and risk her position. I know in my case I was asking a lot and I don't think that would be fair. I work with CEOs and owners of major retail businesses and I know if a consumer lodged a complaint they would take it seriously because (as we are seeing in this thread) consumers are more likely to share negative experiences, and it reflects poorly on their brand.
As far as "freebies" and "replacements" I think at that point in a customer service experience you're affecting future revenues and your brand image, obviously in most cases the money is already spent – unless the consumer is really peached off and files a charge-back. Personally I spend a lot of time in studios, I'm outgoing and talk to everyone I meet about my experiences, I'm active in social media, and up until very recently worked in the fitness industry. I represent continued sales potential for X Pole through referral marketing. If you treat your clients like a one-off you aren't going to make it far in business.

MemberJanuary 28, 2013 at 4:59 pm in reply to: X-Pole Customer Service …. which, apparently, is non-existentThey are being put forth by the company as customer service representatives – handling customer care is their job. The assertion that the client should put themselves in the shoes of a person paid to assist them as a response to lackluster service is ridiculous. Imagine applying that logic to any other industry? What if you bought a studio class and the instructor was too busy to teach the class at the scheduled time? Or she wanted you to come to her house because it was too close to Christmas holidays?
I didn't want to post this online, because even though it took almost a year they fixed it eventually. X Pole, one associate specifically, made me wait and wait to receive a response about an issue related to product quality, not something I could have looked up on the website. From my initial complaint the responses I received were snippy, dismissive, and even at times insulting. Even while I continue to respond to emails courteously and considerately. Everyone else I have dealt with at X Pole has been fabulous, especially Stephanie.
As a customer it is not my job to contact the vendor in the most convenient way possible for whichever individual employee. It's not my job to chase and chase somebody who is paid to support this vendor's product. If I treated any of my clients like this I would not have an income stream.
It would appear that X Pole has a dedicated customer service team, they should create support tickets and try to weight the customer service rep with the brunt of these issues as opposed to these operations essential employees.

MemberJanuary 28, 2013 at 8:15 am in reply to: X-Pole Customer Service …. which, apparently, is non-existentUpandover check out my post about the X Pole brass. A classmate and I both complained about our brass X Poles as soon as we got them. It took a long time, but X Pole replaced the pole pieces for both of us.
If that's not an option you can polish the matte finish brass up – X Pole put a guide on their youtube channel. Because you are in Taipei it would probably be less expensive for you to polish it as opposed to having new pieces shipped, right?

MemberJanuary 27, 2013 at 8:10 pm in reply to: X-Pole Customer Service …. which, apparently, is non-existentI remember there was a lot of confusion when the brass xpole first came out. Some people attributed the bizarre finish to that one email from an xpole tech that was circulated saying that the pole was "brass plated". I think the two issues got confused and some people, especially customers outside of the main xpole markets are still getting the old finish. I know the Canadian warehouse stocks kits in the new finish and extensions in the old finish.

Based on the comments from SBS on the video page it isn't going to be available outside of Australia. 🙁
My boyfriend hooked me up with vpn.hidemyass.com to watch it. Neither of us have any affiliation with that company, they are just one of the select few VPN services with a server in Australia.

MemberJanuary 18, 2013 at 6:22 pm in reply to: X-Pole Customer Service …. which, apparently, is non-existentI have had the same problems with X Pole customer service since September. Nobody would return my calls, if I got somebody on the phone they would ask me to email them instead, then they'd ask me to email back in 30 days, a week, whenever was convenient for the employee. I would follow-up and my emails would go unanswered, or they'd ask to be contacted via another avenue. After 4 months of this back and forth I managed to get a response via email asking me to CALL during their PST operating hours. Eventually I looked up Stephanie, emailed her directly and my issue was handled within 1 hour. I was able to pick up my replacement pole the next day (I had a different issue than OP, but still). I'm very happy that my issue was speedily resolved, and that X Pole assisted me with the issue, period. As for the first four months: X Pole really needs to work on treating their customers as clients instead of operating as if they are doing customers a service.

After investing so much in the original brass xpole and basically being told there was nothing to be done and that the grip was fine it is pretty frustrating to see you change it.

I have a clarisonic too, I bought mine on eBay for $90 (I think it was the "three" version, came with a bunch of brush heads and diff speeds) a couple of years ago. I don't regret purchasing it at all. I use cetaphil cleanser (very inexpensive) and rely on the clarisonic to exfoliate. Mine came with a body brush which I dutifully used at first, but don't use it so much anymore. I wouldn't say the clarisonic is really a money saving device though, because you have to repurchase the brush heads and here in Canada they are quite expensive.
Latisse scares me. I think my eyelashes are pretty good now, but as they start to thin out I might consider using it. I have very light coloured eyes and I think I like the colour of my eyes more than I would like having fuller lashes. My mom has brown eyes and has always been interested in trying Latisse, I'm pretty excited to let her know about the generic version! 🙂

MemberJune 28, 2012 at 9:13 am in reply to: difficulty with the v-sit, wrist sit, hello boysYou have lots of awesome advice from amazing dancers above, I thought I could still chip in the thoughts of a beginner though and perhaps you will find some merit in another beginner’s thought process:
It helped me to think more about pulling back than holding myself up. It also helped me to think about not lining my kooka up with the pole and instead lining one butt cheek up! I also felt more secure sitting back on my forearm, and tried it the first time from standing. You can see my first attempts in my videos. Now that I can do it from pole sit I just think about it like going back into plank, then at first I’d tuck the legs, then I’d slowly splay them!
I’m sure you will get it! Good luck!

Forgot to add one thing: if you buy anything in latex make sure you use it on a pole that won’t discolor the latex. Some metals discolor latex and even make it fall apart I believe.
