I think it’s spinning Scorpio, rather than Gemini/Scorpio leg switches.

Flexi test not rest. You have to drop into tuck then twist and reach arm back with pole above hip bone not on ribs.

Is twisted ballerina let go all arms and legs!
More shoulder flexible and needing to lean forward then twist: Veena has great lesson with flexi rest

We did aerial apprentice with big V legs into twisted/flying ballerina yesterday which I’ve not seen before. Thinking slow climb, aerial body wave in bracket, to apprentice to flying ballerina, back into pole sit then CAR would be pretty (not tried it yet, killed my forearms from too much split grip this week).

Raven, yes, agree about contact points. It’s terrifying what some super supple young gymnastic polers can do!

I do love the pole art/contemporary/expressive stuff coming out now: the innovation is amazing. Some pole has even gone political which is fab. Crystal Belcher Strange Fruit routine for example

I follow you on FB :). You have some gorgeous combos – thanks for sharing the creativity.

I have no hope right now of busting out any hot pro moves, and heading into mid 40s am unlikely to trouble the pro circuit or Cirque lol, it’s more I’m interested in how pole is evolving. When I started last decade there was just a Pantera and Pole Katz DVD, no youtube or social media and it was a few tricks plus spins and climbs. And dancing.

Now it’s much more gymnastic and contortion/-y and I see new moves which are extreme flexi or strength and just way out of most poler’s reach. Plus, the Chinese/Indian pole gymnastic stuff. And things like Remi sit I think are new.

I’m just wondering whether others think pole is changing and if the extreme tricks are becoming mainstream, and what the next evolution will be…

    Musing really. 🙂

They recommend you take the mount to the hardware store as the type of screws you need depend on what you are mounting it on: masonry wood steel joists – then you can try out different screws.

Wiping my hands with the rubbing alcohol I clean the pole with has toughened them up. Poling has meant goodbye to soft manicured and pedicured hands and feet and hello to palms you could strike matches off but I’m secretly proud.

Russian ghetto hairography challenge comes from this discussion https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/Pole_styles_go_for_them_20140617052311
based on this funny ‘what’s your pole style’ video.

It was suggested that more/faster/harder hair flicking was a good thing and epic hi-speed hair whirling shouldn’t just be confined to floor or climbing or the odd spin but used at every opportunity – so it became an unofficial challenge.

I just attempted to fit in random high speed hair whirling during a freestyle to bluegrass gospel music; unfortunately I chopped my long hair off this year so it’s more like head banging whilst on spin mode!

But y’know, I hear his Russian ghetto hairography is shit so there’s still challenge stuff to play for….

I think we should all watch Dominique Lacasse at this stage and cry a bit. With jealous lust.
