Thanks for all the support! Amcut, you are so funny! This publicity has given the studio a HUGE boost! Elona open on Memorial Day, and her one night intro classes started filling up as soon as the local papers ran stories. Now that the Metro area media has picked up the story she’s gonna be swamped! She’ll have the money to mirror all the walls in no time! Maybe some uptight religious folk will protest and we’ll get the dropped ceiling removed and have 2 more feet of pole to use! Elona’s thinking of sending flowers to the "it’s immoral" beotch who started all the hoopla with a letter to the editor. I suggested she send her a coupon for a free class as well! The funniest thing is all the worry that people "will get an eyeful" walking by. There’s a gym in the same stripmall, where in the windows you can see girls exercising in tops that should be more supportive. We keep the blinds closed, though I think we should open them up so the authorities can be sure we’re "keeping our clothes on". The only way to end the stigma against pole dancing is to educate people. Perhaps you could show some of your daughter’s friends (the open minded ones) the non sexy side of poling, ie the impressive tricks and gracefullness. I’ve shown those kinds of videos to coworkers and most have stopped blushing when I talk about my pole, though many roll their eyes.

Like you, I really struggled when I started poling. I almost gave up many times in the first few months because my progress was so slow and I was not looking sexy at all. Nine months later, I still struggle with my form and style, but I’m able to do a lot of moves. I just recently got the gemini and scorpio. The sexy comes out once you’re comfortably confident with the moves you’re doing.At 5 foot 1, I’ve gone from a snug 14 to a loose 10, but that just happened in the past 3 months. I’m a 38 yo smoking mother of 3 who hasn’t worked out regularly for about 10 years. If I can do this, anyone can. Don’t get me wrong, I worked my butt off (literally!) and had to do a lot of strength training before I could invert. Don’t try to compare your progress to the "pole sevants" who master the pole in a couple months. Compare your progress to where you started. And when you’re having trouble, get silly and just dance around for fun!

Thanks for all the great insight! I played clarinet for like 5 years and didn’t know all the techinalities of music you do. I’ve been kinda fumbling with getting my poling to match the music. Things are much clearer for me now! Can you help me to get my body to do what my mind envisions?

Where are you taking lessons? Are you using x-pole in your classes? What kind of pole do you have now?
If it’s an LM stainless (I loathe them) they seem to be much slippier than the Platinum Stages.

I’m taking lessons at Wonder Women Pole Studio; it just opened up last week in Lake Orion. Their poles are about 12 foot permanent mounts, 4 brass and 2 chrome, not sure what brand. I have the PS stage mount and have been dying to get rid of it bc the stage is a pain. I need to get a permanent mount because I have cathedral ceilings. Any recommendations? I’m still not ready for your pole jams; you guys are crazy good! I would knock everyone else off the pole during doubles and triples! And the hubby is feeling like a pole widow right now! Soon! Maybe Elona would let us play around in the studio, she’s not quite booked up yet.

I’ve found I walk on my tiptoes a lot. Sometimes my husband catches me jiggling my badonkadonk and I didn’t even realize I was doing it. Recently at the grocery store I was jamming on the IPOD, when I went to get an item that was on a low shelf I went into the bunny pose (drop down, open and close the knees).
