You can contact Shannon, she makes booties, you can ask her to make them out of vinyl so they stick to the pole
-
and yes, they are meant for high end tricks like xpole and PS,

the Brass is crazy high quality, however the poles don’t spin, and are 1 piece. but they are pressure mounted, no screw required like for the lil minx, takes less then 2 min to put them up and down.

Action Pole is out of BC
they specialize in Brass poles, and offer 38mm

No there calling that the “quick connect”
the renovatio pole looks like it’s something different

I was just about to order a new pot of itac when I came across this thread, I had my old pot for years, and it only finally ran out. Really dont want to order the stuff if the formula is a cheaper mix and slips, especially since it’s so expensive. however I did find something called gorilla snot on a uk pole site, going to give that a try this round.

I personally am not a fan of tying off to the tree trunk:
1) it puts a lot of pressure on your climbing rope, you have to buy a rope rated for dynamic loads (more expensive) opposed to a static load (not to mention it gets full of tree sap)
2) tree branches are rarely smooth, the rope jugging back and forth across the tree branch can cause it to fray, sometimes very suddenly.
3) because trunks are round ropes can ride up and cause slip especially during heavy falls, so that drop you thought you had 5ft of clearance on suddenly goes down to 1ft
ideally you can get up into the tree and set a proper sling with a guard on it to prevent rub
to do this you will need a basic climbing harness and rope, plus either a mechanical ascender (with atc/gri gri pair for decent) or 2 prusiks knots (always use 2 climb ropes so you have a safety in case of failure)
here is a video demo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQgF-thouXYthere are generally aborists schools that will offer weekend courses on how to do basic tree ascend, learning how to safely do your own rigging is an invaluable tool for any aerialists.

You can't do swing at all on a tripod, not without anchoring the poles (even then you would bang into the legs on the side) that's where the stability issues are a concern as well, however you can do swing trapeze and cloud swing on a 4 leg version,
Also with a tripod you only have 1 rig point, so that automatically limits your choice of apparatus, no trapeze, no double point Lyra, no 2 point hammock etc…
for the little bit of extra $ it's worth it to just invest in the sawhorse version, it's so much more versatile in various acts you can do, and in stability.
-
the tripods suck, they fall over and because they are narrow at the top you loose up to 2ft in hight. that and if the silk catches the wind it works like a sail and literly sends the thing flying. I've never seen that happen on the sawhorse 4 legged ones.

The first lady I sold it to brought it back to me and wanted her money back, she found it so awful to work on. I finally managed to sell it to a friends studio (mostly because she took pity on me that I couldn’t find anybody that wanted it)

xpole smartened up, but it was too late for those of us that had already been taken in by the horrible finish and the promise of nice grippie brass you find in other poles. No appoligies from xpole, no willingness to replace it for the proper polished finish.sorry chumps your outta luck
sucks to be you….

That was the last time I will ever deal with xpole, I tell my students the same.
I even still have the emails if anyone wants to read them
