thanks for the links and suggestions! I spent a good amount of time yesterday practicing some of the moves.
trixie – I still have to look at your video. Do I find it in your profile? I’m still not completely familiar with finding things here..

Thanks for explaining the dead lift ladies, I will start practicing that tomorrow. I don’t exactly kick into my inverts but I do rock back and forth at least one. I think this is why I can’t do the chopper still, because I am using a bit of momentum still.

Can you guys explain the dead lift? I have no idea what that is. Is there a lesson for it?
I wanted to add that for the last twp days I have been trying to do a tiny body wave as i rock myself into it and now it doesnt look as bad since it looks like its part of the dance ; )

Thanks Veena, I don’t think I do enough leg exercises as it is so I would hate to skip any. Its good to know that I don’t need to alter my routing since I’m finally seeing some improvement https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I do already stretch before and after but maybe I can try to stretch between each set as well.

    Hi ladies,
I had no idea that some leg exercises affect flexibility. I’m wondering now if I need to change what I am doing… My legs are really flabby so I train them twice a week. On wednesdays i do squats, wall squats, leg lifts to the front, side, and back (while standing), and lots of walking lunges. On saturdays i do the p90x legs and back dvd. Should I stop doing some of the moves or are those ok. I would appreciate any feedback since I am trying really hard to get my splits.

I thought i was the only one that had this problem. I don’t count to three but i do breathe in and out and think about it before i go up. I also can’t invert with shoes on which drives me bananas.

I am a 6.5 and had to order a seven because they were not available in half sizes. They fit like a regular 7 would so i think they run true to size. The first time i went for a 6 and they were too snug.

I have found that my flexibility gets better faster if I only do deep stretches 2 or 3 times a week. The rest of the week I do very light stretching. Right now I’m losing a lot of flexibility due to a groin pull so I am being very careful to prevent over-stretching.

tiggertail – I can’t do it at all, its awesome that you can do it, it will only keep improving with practice.

I think I might take a month off from going to the studio so that I can work on my strength at home. Its just too frustrating to see everyone else on my level get the trick while i’m stuck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif . I know i should not compare myself to others but I can’t help it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I’m having trouble controlling my inverts as well and I haven’t been able to do an inverted V on my own. Very frustrating! I don’t know if its upper body, core, or back strength that I’m lacking, maybe a combination of the three.

Thanks for the ideas. I tried going down in the kneeling position and like it since I can go into floor work from there : ). The bicycle legs are a different story, maybe I need to work on my upper body strength more because I can’t hold myself nicely while moving my legs that way. It does not look pretty at all..

i have not iced it at all since i hate anything cold against my skin. I have been using arnica gel and stretching gently. It has been 4 days and it does feel better but still hurts. im concerned about losing any flexibility that has taken me so long to gain. I hope you feel better soon, it sounds like you are doing all the right things.

I dont think i am strong enough to do the walking on air move because of hold and having to move my hips in front of the pole : ( I will have to try it anyways.
When bicycling down….is your body centered behind the pole with one leg to each side? Trying to get the right idea before attemption : D
