For my TG the grip stayed the same even when some of the coating wore off. However, my TG pole is one of the first generation old school so I can’t say with the new ones.

I don’t work for xpole so I really can’t say what the finishes will be. I would think all diameters with the new xlock would have the same non stinky brass finish.

If you like the look of the PC it’s cheaper, go for it. You can pretty much make any finish work with the right grip aids.

When I look at their website and when my husband bought my new brass they didn’t yet have the option for brass in a 40 with the xlock. I only see chrome when I look. https://xpoleus.com/shop-all/poles/xpert-pro/xpert-pro-px/

    Are you in the US?

One other thing to consider with the A frame is if you’re over 5ft 7in and you like to do splits or layouts on the lyra. Your legs might touch the sides and stop you from spinning. If that doesn’t matter, then no worries. For me I love the A frame but was disappointed I couldn’t fully extend my limbs and maintain rotation.

Yes, I have the black powder coated xpole, I never use it. It’s slippery until it warms up, the finish pinches more than metal and also it’s a 45. I like 40 or 38 mm poles.

The smell of my OLD brass xpole was awful as Chemgoddess said. I could shower and wash my hand all day and it would still smell on my body. THEN I bought a Platinum stages brass 38, it doesn’t smell (maybe a tiny bit). Then I got a NEW xpert brass with the twist to lock function and it doesn’t smell either….I know that xpole acquired Platinum stages and I’m wondering if they are using the PS brass for their xpoles now? Just a theory….

So the old xpole brass (old style locking screws to switch to spin) STINKY, blah. My NEW 40 xpert pro brass X lock, feels and smells just like the PS. LOVE

Something to note, the don’t carry the brass xpert in a 40 yet for purchase, just the 45 diameter.

As far as durability, I’d say my PC poles have gotten more scratches than the brass has. I wouldn’t worry about it, as long as you don’t dance with rings, belts or sharp things (not suggested any way) you should be fine.

What are you using right now, or is this your first ever pole?

I thought about starting a “Check in” Discussion thread? Not sure how that would go…Maybe each day we get a workout in we post to the thread? Could be a photo, clip or just a DONE response.

I have been tracking my workouts for the past…hmm 3 maybe for 4 weeks and I thought I might be fun to share it with you guys. It would take some doing to write in up in a way you would understand. I use a lot of weird, random names for exercises. lol It wouldn’t be shared so people would have to follow but rather give some ideas or just inspire.

Sorry I had this written out be had to go to my sons school for an event and forgot to send it!

I have both finishes and LOVE my brass. I have dry-ish skin and my legs and hands have trouble gripping due to being cold. Brass has been the most consistent finish for me. I’ve used it in the cool rooms and super hot rooms. When they say brass is good for those who sweat, they just mean it’s better than other finishes, not that it’s only for those who sweat.

I have the powered coated xpole and I don’t care for that finish. I do have a powder coating that does work great but that pole isn’t made anymore. I have stainless steel and chrome as well but nothing compare to my brass poles, for me.

Both brass and PC can end up feeling “rip your skin off” grippy but you learn to work with it. I have found I can use any finish if I use the right grip aid mix so go with the pole that fits your budget.

Check your ceiling, depending on the style and age of the apartment you could install a mount if you have the xpole. Find out if you have joists/studs. If it’s concrete that won’t work. Knock on the ceiling if it sounds hollow in some spots and solid in others chances are it’s joists. If it just sounds solid every where it’s probably concrete. The mount only goes into the ceiling nothing goes into the floor. You keep the same base.

I rent and it just takes a few screws for the mount and those holes can be filled easily when you leave.

    Cons:
    They’re REALLY heavy
Set up is never as easy as I thought it would be (I’m always sweating by the time I finish)
They make a lot of noise if you wear heels
They don’t have much room for floor work
The metal is cold and hard on your knees and feet
Outside in the sun the black metal gets REALLY hot
They don’t feel as stable as a pole that is supported at the top and bottom
If using it inside you need over 10 ft of ceiling height.
The spin is not as nice as a mounted pole, you really need to know how to work a spin pole to keep the momentum.

    Pros:
You can set them up outside
They are great for performers because you don’t need a ceiling to use it
You can attach a lolipop lyra to the top
    Great for performers!

The reason why you want a stage pole is probably the most important thing to consider.

If you plan on performing, it’s GREAT! If you want to use if for practice instead of a permanent or removable pole, it’s not ideal. If you plan on setting it up and down often it’s a pain. You’re better off investing in a permanent mount for a pole instead.

It may sound like I don’t like the stage but I DO, as a professional its worth the money.

Yup! Amelia is right. In fact, if you’re signed up to the website you get the newletters. If you’re not seeing them check your spam. I’ve noticed my spam has a lot of emails from companies I WANT to hear from!! So annoying!

I have the A frame but I don’t think it goes below 8ft. Maybe the person was referring to the fact that it’s under 8ft before you put the pins in?

Have you considered hanging your apparatus from the ceiling?
