Video of all the moves you mentioned would be best. 😉

Do you have any video so we can see? This would help me pinpoint problem areas. All of the moves you listed require good shoulder strength and mobility also not all moves will work for everyone’s body.

There’s no reason you HAVE to do a Cartwheel mount, twisted or split grip. Don’t stress about it. I personally do not consider any move beyond a caterpillar as essential in pole. In fact, next month’s June challenge will be all about fundamental moves and cartwheel is NOT part of that list 🙂
But even though I have a list of fundamentals if you love doing all things upright or everything from the ground, go for it! Pole should make you feel excited, free and happy and tricks are not everything. You can still get an amazing workout without doing crazy tricks too!!!

Now, if a cartwheel is something you really are dreaming of, I’d love to help you reach that goal! Your options are private online lessons or hit me up in you’re ever in Vegas for a one on one in person!

Honestly don’t worry about the pole you bought…looks like the first model of the xpole but a knock off. I still have poles that screw together like that from xpole and they work just fine. I have actually read good things about these cheaper knockoff poles. But as with any pole always check it before jumping on. It’s the peek a boo or any “toy” like pole that are very light weight you should avoid!

About the ceiling, if you can, go into the attic, then you can see the direction of the joist’s. I usually just knock with my hand to find the studs, then check confirm with the stud finder. It will go from hollow to solid sounding once you find the stud. It can be hard with popcorn ceiling but as long as it’s not too pointy do able.

April 20, 2019 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Butt Cramp During Split Training?

    Yay congrates!!!

There are a few reasons for a butt cramp sensation could be your Piriformis for example. A lot of people think their sticking points are one place flexors, hamstrings or quads but really it could be all of these or something else. I’m being very vague cuz without being there to see what’s going on it’s hard to tell. So instead I’ll give you some things to try….

Make sure you are fully warm (I’m sure you already do that, but for the sake of other readers…)

Strengthen the glutes and hips!!! This is so important for flexibility, we need strength too! Try doing your strength work before stretching. There are lots of great leg exercise in the lessons.

Do other stretches like sitting twists, outer thigh stretch and hip openers before splits.

    Foam roll before.

When stretching try contracting the opposing muscle groups, don’t just push into the stretching muscle.

Remember to add other styles of stretches like the flowmotion and dynamic training.

I’m sorry you’re feeling frustrated! Like anything if you want to keep it you gotta use it. It’s totally normal to loose moves. It’s also very important to have the fundamentals down before learning the more advanced stuff for this reason. New tricks are fun, but fundamentals are what can make these moves easier to learn. Have you tried any of my 30 day programs to help motivate yourself to practice at home?

The only way to do static pole is if the pole it’s self doesn’t move. 🙂

You would have to check with the venue before throwing something like glitter. I might do confetti instead as glitter is soooo hard to clean. ✨✨✨

Not sure how to go about holding something like that in place tho.

Hmm, I don’t know of any free videos for toe point, but one important aspect for pretty feet is to point from the foot. As in extend from the ankle, then point the toes.

4 minute is a long time! Most competition routines are about 2:30 and sometimes less. 1 mins is actually very good and the more often you freestyle the easier it will become.

Time!! Yep, there are claims of “get your split in x amount of days” really though, a true increase in flexibility takes time, often YEARS of consistent training. Have you tried the 30 days to flexy program here? The flomotion lessons are a nice way to change up static training too.
