This pole seems to be the same as the peekaboo, electra, and pole aerobics pole. You see chances are there’s one or more companies manufacturing this style of pole and many different labels used to sell it. I’m sure I could make a killing selling a "Studio Veena" pole from this company….but I care about quality and safety which is why I chose the X pole. I can’t see it up close, but it sure looks and goes together like all those other crappy poles. Why did your teacher recommend a cheap pole like this over the quality X pole?? Platinum stages and lil mynx are better pole too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif They are not my first choice for poles but they both are good options.

Someone really said that about me Trena? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif that makes me blush. Thank you for the up date it sounded like a lot of fun. You also learned some pretty cool moves https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif way to go!! One more thing at the IHRSA show I came across a lady who teaches hooping and they had these really cool hoops that came apart so you could just carry them around in a little bag….they looked like a lot of fun. I think I may look into learning hooping too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif.

AdministratorMarch 30, 2009 at 5:37 am in reply to: Any tips on practicing pole dance during pregnancy?Sooo it sounds like your new to pole dance and new to pregnancy. First I want to say Congrats!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif being a mommy is the best thing ever…even better than pole dancing. LOL First thing you need to do is talk to your DR or midwife and make sure they give you the ok to exercise. Unfortunately most DRs have no idea what pole dance is or how difficult it is. So most have no idea how to help you. One more thing I want to share before I give you my guide lines I used for my pregnant pole dancing. Will using my abs hurt the baby? No, not in a normal low risk pregnancy! I did abdominal exercises though out all 4 of my pregnancy’s. If your high risk you wont be exercising anyway.
Here are the rules I followed in my pregnancy. Keep in mind my body was use to years of hard physical training.
First trimester
I continued my regular routine but didn’t learn any new moves I focused on moves I knew were solid for me….I didn’t want to fall and injure myself…I was pretty sick https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif but I did find that exercise helped my morning sickness a lot (and peppermint gum) That gum was a life saver!!! Be careful not to over stretch (relaxin) a hormone, will be with you though out the pregnancy and after for a bit too! Some women find the relaxin really affects them…but for me it was not a problem. To put it simply…If you have strong muscles, tendons, and ligaments this can help reduces the issues with relaxin. Ladies who were strength training before pregnancy tend to have less troubles with relaxin. If your new to pole dance spins can be really tough on your shoulders. Proper form is a MUST!!! Also no matter what form of exercise you chose be sure to avoid over heating..this can be bad for the baby. Drink lots of water and stay cool.2nd trimester
At around 4 months I stopped inverting and climbing. You’ll weigh more and your balance will be changing because of a growing belly!3rd trimester
I rarely danced at all maybe 4 or 5 times and I made a video 2 of those times. LOL So again no inverts or climbs and I stopped most spins and had to modify others. So in conclusion to my thoughts on pregnant poling…I wouldn’t recommended learning new things…..but you can surely enjoy your pole still. Dance around…do hip rolls feel sexy with your new body! Practice moving in a controlled manner and take this as an opportunity to practice good posture while dancing. Work on breathing, pointing your toes (if you are having leg cramps then avoid pointing toes) and having soft hand while you dance. My movements became even more fluid because thats all I could really work on after the 6th month or so.
If you have any questions about pregnancy in general please don’t hesitate to email me. Its a fun and scary life change…enjoy it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

AdministratorMarch 28, 2009 at 6:16 pm in reply to: A little something for the UK peeps to get excited about!Yes, yes please let us know how it works….like I said in the chat room yesterday, you can feel the Xpole itself moving slightly….like say in a straight edge position…which is normal for any free standing pole. This pole sure looked like had quit a bit of lean to it when she was performing. I’m always on the look out for new better poles!! I just felt like the placement of the dark edging in the vid was maybe to hide the instability. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif The grip of stainless steel can become better over use, but Titanium Gold and brass are the best in my book. It would be great if this pole turns out to be a good one! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I love how the pole is named Jake LOL.

The tubes will help prevent the poles from touching in the bag so they wont smash against each other. So… more to protect the finish while you travel, if the pole were to be thrown around at all the pieces wouldn’t touch. I didn’t keep the tubes for both of mine just the one. Its really only necessary if you will travel with the pole a lot. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

After using the X pole stage I can really see how this pole wobbles..even during her handsprings. I have also use a Platinum stages, stage and that one the pole its self wobbles a bit but this pole looks like the whole thing will tip over https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif Its also stainless steel which is the hardest finish to handle. They also conveniently place that dark edge around the video so you don’t notices the mats they have placed over the poles base are moving all around. LOL

It is sooooooo beautiful outside today. I will be chatting outside!!! I LOVE SPRING https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

It makes me sad when ladies are embarrassed to tell friends and family about their new sport. In the neighborhood where I live I get mixed reactions about my pole dance oh… and the purple hair https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Even my family members question my desire to pole dance….I’m sure they all think I’m secretly a dancer in a club. lol Here’s how I look at it….No other form of exercise has gotten me into better shape and has been soooo much fun!! I should know I’ve been a certified trainer for 8 yrs and have been working out longer. I make sure to tell people that too. I want them to know its not the first form of exercise I’ve tried! I figure if people think I’m a "stripper" well so what? Let them think that…I wouldn’t be ashamed. The best thing I can do is be the best person I can be, friends and family will see that my kids are VERY well behaved, my husband and I have a great relationship and I"m in fab shape and a great mood!! The Latin dances we let our children perform started out as sexual street dances https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Grinding, hip wiggling and shoulder shimming. Things can be as evil https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif or as innocent https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif as WE make them out to be…..hey the media does it to us all the time!! I like to have videos bookmarked to show people examples…All my youtube vids can be seen on a phone so please feel free to use them as an example…I show people all the time. I pick the ones that show strength and beauty. People are usually look at me after a video like WOW https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif you must be crazy strong…and brave https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif hehe. The longer we pole dancers try to keep our dancing a secret the longer it will take for others to accept it.

Yes in the US the joist are farther apart than the UK. Again something I wish X pole US would include in there instructions!!
US…center on one joist
UK….place between two joists.

I can not over split…but can do a decent Jade(inverted split) very very close to 180 but I could see where the ability to do an over split would help. The trick for me was to really grip the the arm pit and its not so much about holding the pole with your inner thigh like the in the hip hold…I mean you still do hold with the thigh but how you hold your torso seems to be more important. Its holding a lot of the pole against the whole side of your body. Seems like you really have to lock in the move with your torso more than anything. I can hold it every time but I can’t consistently do the full split……still trying to figure out what the trick is to that. Here’s what has worked for me so far…. If I remember right it seems to be helpful to fully extend the free leg first and then finish extending the leg that you are holding. BUT I always see the jade performed in the opposite way??? Also I have found if you do the the Jade with both hands even farther away from the body say….on the upper calf/ankle….you body is in a different position than in the jade with hand lower on the leg. This will be one of the new lessons, I am determined to perfect this move!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I haven’t worked on it for a while so maybe this will be a move I focus on. I’ll keep you guys posted if I have a break though.. lol

Don’t forget you can use your web cams in the studio veena chat room and if you don’t want your pole jam public you can go into your own room. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Awww Sascha….That suck big time, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I know you were really exited about this. The best thing we can do as pole dancers is to keep on poling, and telling our friends how great it is. Its strange how in America we are really obsessed about sex…I mean we use it to sell everything! BUT pole dancing for fun and exercise raises eyebrows https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Hopefully some day they’ll all grow up and no longer be afraid of the scary pole dancers https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
