Another great reason I should have moved where its warm! I’m having the same problem. I haven’t got to try it yet but azriel posted to my blog suggesting I try using a humidifier. It helps with dryness with causes you not to stick. I am going to get one and try it out as well as some of the other things suggested.

I love seeing this! She reminds me of my grandma who is 94. She was always dancing and active. Unfortunately a few yrs ago she had a aneurysm, kinda like a stroke, so now she is in a wheel chair. She always said how exercise is so important. I wonder if she would have done pole dance! My grandpa is 94 as well and takes care of my grandma, only thing wrong with him is his back (due to helping her!)
Pole dancing is the only exercise I’ve done consistently. I love it. So many benefits besides health too! Any age is a good age to start. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Make a daily FLEXIBILITY stretching routine (Help?)

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Successfully do pole sit/climb at home (can do in studio.) For some reason I just slide whether pole is warmed up or cold. I got a few suggestions from friends that I will try but any other suggestions are welcome. -
I made some goals and I figured I’d give an update:
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Catalog moves from several DVDs so I can hear/see different ways of the same moves. I cataloged all but my new Art of Pole DVDs. Moves are listed by level and type of move ie. transitions, spins, etc . I also rate my comfort level for each move: Beginner, intermediate, and Expert. I’m only an expert in a few though. lol
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Make a list of moves I already know (can use later for refresher or make a choreographed dance.)I’ll just look at the "catalog" list for ideas, there is no need to keep an extra sheet.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Record/take picture of my body (quarterly?) to see body improvement (wear same outfit?) Measure split distance from floor. (It will be high #…)I never got around to doing this. I will however be taking some pics for my profile soon so maybe I’ll do this as well.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Take my time and learn new moves safely, if not sure of something ask someone! No injuries allowed!I have been going at my own process and trying not to compare myself to others. No injuries due to stretching and getting instruction on moves before attempt.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Go to class 2x per month-work on moves I don’t have on DVD (if possible) or what I need help on I really haven’t been going to class. The studio I go to requires you to do moves in order and there is one move I can’t get I can do several moves above it. Hopefully I will get it soon.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Make a daily stretching routine I have a routine for warm up stretches but not one for flexibility stretching. I’m kinda lost what I should be doing to improve flexibility…sigh
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Solve my shoe dilemma Finally found a shoe with an adjustable toe strap! I tried padding the other shoes but it didn’t work well for me.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Try to do the challenge even if I don’t post it. I did the challenge for the most part, but nothing too serious/planned.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Post a video one day! (Be hard, I’m pretty private.)I haven’t bought a good vid cam yet, could use phone but wouldn’t be good quality.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Not let pole interfere too much with work and home including forums! Pole Dancing is a reward and a hobby!I’m addicted but I still get stuff done.lol
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Continue to encourage others. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’ll continue to do so.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif Do a full dance with all the works for my husband (he usually only gets to see bits of pieces.)I have a deadline to do a full show with 2 songs complete with invite in February for my husbands Bday! I haven’t planned it yet mainly b/c I keep switching songs. I plan to do this though.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_arrow.gif One day be able to do the splits! One day is the key word. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gifAny suggestions/encouragement is helpful. Thanks for reading. I hope I can meet my goals!

I wish there was an easy routine with easy moves that just sizzle but I haven’t seen any that EVERYONE could do. We all have diff flexibility for one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
This link tells you how to make your own routine with what you know already:
http://poleskivvies.com/2009/05/how-to-make-a-pole-dance-routine/This link is about improv:
http://poleskivvies.com/2009/05/how-to-improv-a-pole-dance/I’m sure he would love it and wouldn’t notice if you made a mistake if you keep going. My pole instructor said her boyfriend and lots of men don’t care so much for tricks (like we do) and you could literally shake your hips most of the time and they will love it. I think she is right. The fact that your allowing him to see you dance will please him.
It might help to dance for yourself and "included him" vs. dancing for him. Plus its a tease, he’ll wonder when your coming back and it will allow him to look at you when your not looking, which he will like to see a girl who enjoys herself! Pick a song you really like. I tend to be giggly when I’m nervous so I made up "Veronica" who already knows she’s hot and "acted" like her in a way. I turn her on and off now. She just a diff part of me. Seemed to help me. Plus if he didn’t like it he must not have a pulse!
I say go for it! You could make a routine to do, improv, or a mix of the two. Its your show , you can do whatever you want and your in control. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Lots of practice is good so the moves feel comfortable to you. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Hope this helps. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have both Vertical Dance 1 and Art of Pole 5 dvd set. I recommend both really b/c they cover different things. I do like how AOP explains things on both sides but Vertical Dance covers easier spins that AOP doesnt cover at all. I dont know about Vertical 2 since I dont own it. I felt frustrated after watching Vertical Dance and couldnt do much either, then over time I was able to do things. I think a lot of that is b/c your new to pole it sounds like, it takes time to get strength. VD has a small section on pole conditioning , perhaps try that to build strength. I like AOP warm up, cool down, and pole conditioning a lot better than VP though. I really like both. Hope this helps.

Maybe you could open up a facebook account and add your pole friends. Facebook now has the option of making videos and pics available to certain people. Or just make one specially for Pole and everyone on there can see vids. A lot of people have a facebook account and there was a thread on here about it. I’ve been thinking about doing this myself. Something that YOU can control is ideal. Anybody else have any ideas?

Hey. I believe the videos are "public" which means only Studio Veena members can see it. If you log out and try to watch a video for example it wont let you and will ask you to sign in. If you are wanting only certain people to view it,I think you can make youtube private and invite those who you wish to view it. Hope that helps.

I’m from Cincinnati but depending on dates I will be about 1 hour south of Akron in a small town visiting husbands family. Otherwise I could drive if its a date I could do. Wikipole.org has a list of pole schools in Ohio. That would be fun if we could get together. I know there are more Ohio people on here so maybe we will here from them soon.

MemberDecember 17, 2009 at 12:01 am in reply to: Jamilla’s Art of Pole series and new Routines DVDI received my Art of Pole set in the mail yesterday. Finally a pole DVD that satisfied my need for detail and cautiousness! I’m still glad I have some other pole dvds though (Vertical Dance, etc) as it doesn’t have every move but I really like her teaching style. Also the pole conditioning moves change on each DVD to the level you are on which is great. I really like it and thinks it worth getting. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
