The title corset caught my eye. I adore corsets! I prefer underbust corsets b/c you can change the look more. As for steampunk style, its pretty varied depending on if you going with a theme/character type but here are a few ideas.
See the link below. See how the necklaces are used to drape the garment with? I did this when my husband and I went to a steampunk ball. Are you looking for ideas such as this?

I agree with both poleophile and BACE16 – mixing and adding to things work well and sometimes look more unique.
If your semi-crafty I can give you lots of ideas, as that is a good way to keep costs down. I was shocked that Michelle’s crafts had brass looking jewelry pieces etc. Jewelry and hats are pretty easy. If you can sew there is lots you can do that you can edit vs. make the whole thing from scratch. I hope that helps some. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Yes, I have a chrome xpole. Its snowing where I am at, 29 degrees at the moment…Its probably going to be like most grip aids/skin care-some will like it, other wont. It will depends on what you like and how your particular skin is, so far I like it better than my regular lotion but will be trying it out more before I give full opinion.SissyBuns- Yeah, its very new and the company is in Australia.

I plan to do more "testing" this weekend. So far I like it better than my reg lotion but I’m trying it different ways to see how effective it is on the pole.

I really liked it. I wanted to dance after seeing it. They had little posters of the movie so I grabbed a few for my friends too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_nemo.gif
After watching it, I added Chicago and Moulin Rouge to my nextflix que. I’ve seen them before but need another fix! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Anybody know of any other movies that are similar dance styles?

I seem to be the opposite. I started with 6 in shoes and I still like them. However if I pole in public I prefer 4 in ones. I’m tall and thin as it is, so I feel more comfortable in the shorter ones. Also my ceiling isn’t as tall so if my heels aren’t as tall I have more "room." If I was shorter, I suppose I’d favor the 6 in ones probably. I personally don’t like the look of anything over 6 in, b/c they remind me of horse hoofs. lol

Jayjay- You said " so I think it is just a matter of working it over and over ?" Yes, for me anyway, once I get used to the move its no longer an issue. Every new inverted move I attempt I feel "fear" again but I try to remember 1. I know how to fall properly 2. I can overcome 3. It takes practice to feel comfortable. Fear is natural reaction to many things, the key is acknowledging it and then pushing through it. I’m hoping in time I wont even have that reaction to new inverted moves, but even if it doesn’t go away I know it will pass as I work through it. I started inverting not long ago, so time will tell. Also, work at your own pace. Good luck to you!

Jayjay- I can invert and have strong hold and can let go of my hands. But when I tried to go to the other side of the pole, I freaked out. All the sudden, I don’t feel safe EVEN though I am. I was at a pole jam and the people around me were saying I was secure and tried to help me position myself. The underlying issue for me was fear of falling. So I practiced falling correctly using a guide. (If you are curious on how to do this, go to http://www.poletopia.com and sign up for newsletter (the article will be sent to you) If you can get a spotter, even if just a friend, maybe they can help position you. I also had to practice breathing so I could be calm. I can physically do moves, mentally is when I get in my own way. Visualizing it in your head can help too. Veena gave me that tip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Hope that helps (at least knowing others deal with this too.)

2 months is amazing to be doing cross ankle release (the one in your first inversion video.) It took me a long time to get to where I could do the basic invert myself. You are doing great!

hookedonpole- Happy Belated Bday! I was able to get a crash mat for really cheap. I actually got an umbrella bench pad that came in two halves and had a hole in it for the pole, I mean umbrella. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif It works perfect. I can post a pic if you want.

Plus if you need other pieces, you can be sure you can find a replacement. Even the older pole replacements can still be bought! So its great for long term. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
