the Flygym is very cool for stretching/trx/pilates, pole uses and aerial yoga https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif but not quite set up for true Aerial Hammock – I am sure some of the poses we do in hammock would translate over but a lot would not (drops etc) in general the flygym isn't really set up for hammock, the flygym is much shorter, a differnt material and rigged differently. We do aerial yoga/trx/pilates/pole stuff etc with hammocks as well we just don't have/use extra handles etc.

There is a swivle at the rigging point that allows you to spin but no motor – it is all from centrifical force…just your body inertia…this is actually one of our students – AND it was her first day 🙂

Ohhhh really like that shop on Etsy!

On the safety note – hanging anything from tree branches is a bad idea as well – I spent lots of time with certified riggers reviewing ceilings for my studio location and engineering plans – even if you are just doing light aerial yoga with a hammock or omni or whatever version you need to be carefully if you are inverting. And while the daisy chains or span sets may be tested and more than strong enough the branches are an unknown factor – you don’t have to fall from a great height to really hurt yourself – it always scares me when I see people hanging silks from a tree. Lets make sure to be really careful 🙂

I would go with a true aerial hammock – you can do almost everything that you can do with the Fly Gym but if you start getting into aerial work you can actually Do hammock with it vs a Fly Gym which you cannot – hammock is so cool 🙂

Chad is a male pole dancer at my studio and I LOVE him – he is the absolute sweetest guy! And…he just started pole in july – love him!
