In the beginning of learning pole, I never would've considered myself an athlete. I suppose I would've thought of it as a hobby or fitness in order to lose weight and build strength. But now, its so much more than that. Now, its not a hobby, its not just for exercise. I purposely train myself 3 to 4 times a week. And I know some people in this thread have said they're dancers and it is pole DANCING. But in my mind, its not even dancing anymore lol. It reaches a level above that, if that makes any sense. It's acrobatics, gymnastics, ballet << ok that's one's dancing lol.

WOO! So glad you're here, Veena and been for so long.

Though I'm not in a field where there are concerns about my personal life, I know of people who keep that part of themselves guarded. A lot of them are doctors, lawyers, CEOs, where they find it necessary to keep their pole life private. I think it really depends on what you decide to go into when you decide what career path you want and if you choose to keep it to yourself or be open about it.

Can't get away with that. There's always someone else home with me.

I like side climb! Done well, it looks very pretty, especially if you transition out of it well. It just HURTS. I've skinned myself twice.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't like moves I can't do yet. All frustration. Though, I was negative about one move and I've re-read it and I just want to smack myself, it sounded so horrible and rude and I didn't mean it at all the way it sounded. I basically compared it to being a "stripper" move, and I thought that sounded as if I was attacking strippers. I have no issues with strippers whatsoever. I'm quite envious of them. So anyone here who does that for a living I do sincerely apologize.
I just don't like the Standing V, or any other name attached to it. I've seen too many people just go far too vulgar with it and it makes me cringe.

I love my….
Shins
Calves
Ankles
Smile
Eyes
Fingers
Pole:
I love how my toes point.
The pain and soreness after a good work out.
How I kick off and glide through the air during a forward altitude or chair.
I love my climb.
Finally getting a pole move after not getting it 100 tries before. =P

I know how you feel! The one pole friend I have lives so far away from me. 🙁

I agree with Veena, it makes a mess of the pole. Lots of residue is left over after you finish whatever you're doing. But I think grip aids come in more handy for people who don't stick well. For me, I sweat so much and used to never reply on them simply because I thought it would help build up tolerance and I'd get use to the grip. That was far from the truth in the beginning. I flung myself across rooms numerous times because I'd slip right off if creating a lot of momentum.
And gloves were useless.

… you throw a hissy fit when you realize you’re out of rubbing alcohol. >_

My hips pop every time I lift them. Never realized this until I started pole dancing and had to stretch and warm up all the time lol. Doesn't hurt, just sounds and feels weird. But thank you @saphyre and @crazykosters 🙂 Luckily I didn't need ice. No inflammation.

Standing V. Something is just so ugly about this move. I can do it, but I absolutely choose not to. As much as I hate to compare stripping to pole dancing, that move screams stripper move to me. Sorry to those who like it. 🙁
