Welcome to the site! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Peekaboo poles are no good, unfortunately you had to find out the bad way, eek! Dont be scared of all poles though. There are some AMAZING brands out there that will not come crashing down. Xpole is fab & is based in the UK so shipping for you should be quite reasonable. Platinum Stages & Lil Mynx are also good poles (but i myself havent tried them). Any other brand are iffy and i wouldnt risk it or waste the money. The poles mentioned above are a bit pricy BUT they are VERY much worth the money.
When I first started I made the mistake of getting a Little Sexy Pole and that thing was ALWAYS coming loose. Spring loaded extenders are crap! But yeah, then I went to an Xpole and believe me, once you try a pole thats really made for pole dancing your fear of doing a spin and it falling over will become nonexistent https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
There are some topics in the "Poles" section of the forum that would probably be helpful and reassuring for you as well.
Hope that helps! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif So sorry you are feeling so down and out. The other ladies had some great suggestions! But yeah, just try try try to set some time apart for yourself. Take a hot bath with some soaks and some music & relax for a bit. Maybe go to a park, lake or beach by yourself and just let everything go for a bit. Even if its only for 20-30 minutes, its better than nothing. I know how panic attacks go, im still on meds for them although they have gotten HEAPS better than they were a year ago. They are NOT fun. I was in the same position, being over worked & super stressed. I ended up having to take a medical leave from work because it effected me so badly. You dont want to get to that point.
Maybe go out with some friends for the evening, just hanging out. Get your mind off of things.
Good luck & I hope you feel better soon. Dont worry, when things are feeling there worst they always get better. Just try to stay positive, even though I know that is hard in itself. *hugs*

Thanks Veena! I dont think its a flexibility issue, as Ive always been really flexibile pretty much everywhere but it definitely could be hand strength. Im gonna continue trying to get into position on my left and working on my hand strength on the right…. so eventually I will be able to do it on both sides. Its probably gonna take me longer than hoped but thats alright.
Patience and practice, patience and practice! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Thanks! That vid was very helpful, Im gonna try some of the different ways she gave. I usually get into it the 2nd one she did (minus the butterfly)…
I’ve tried getting into it from a sort of Tammy but my abs arent really strong enough, since its kinda like a death lay or a reverse plank going up into it but grabbing with the hand once up far enough to reach it. But maybe if I curve my body a bit to the side like she did it would work https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Im so gonna get this move by the end of the week. I WILL IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Thanks again, much appreciated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

It got here. I picked it up from the Studio where I take classes. I got it home. It is missing one of the long poles https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I’ll have to call my instructor in the morning so she can sort it out.
Aww that sucks. But at least you are just a step away from having a pole, yay!!

Looks like a blast! Great pics! -
Thanks Violet. My husband asked me when I was going to post a video. I told him that it gives me stage fright just to think about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif Lol!
Haha! Me too! I just posted my first video about a month or so ago (after 7 months of dancing). It was so scary! I dont know why but it gets all the insecurities flowing. During the video I was so frickin nervous and trying to bunch in everything I knew (which I didnt cause i kept thinking too much and forgetting what i wanted to do). But after I got over that first hurtle I post vids like every week now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Take your time. Try taking some practice vids and see what you look like on film…. Get some feedback from your hubby and post whenever you are comfortable. Dont feel rushed https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Welcome!!!! Hope you enjoy the site (I know I do)! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
Yay! So Cal girls!!! Maybe I will get brave enough to post a video of me soon. I am so critical of myself. I feel so weak! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
No pressure to post anything right away. We are all our own worst critics & that first video post is always nerve racking for some reason! But I can assure you we are all very supportive https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

As far as inverts go, its a GOOD thing that your side is sticking to the pole. It should be when doing the Gemini/Scorpio etc…. You will bruise a little as your skin adjusts to the pressure and tension but it will subside.
BUT like cbr600 said, make sure when you are inverting your side isn’t crashing/slamming into the pole. You DONT want that, be sure you are inverting correctly (without a video seeing you I cant tell if you are), but either way i recommend you look at Veena’s Basic Invert video in her "Lessons" section of the site and compare it with your own.
