I'm so sorry about your husband. Of course he is in my prayers, and also you. Sending you strength.

Welcome.
If you can, buy, Veeena's lessons They are clear and concise for the beginners. Also if you are concerned about your physical makeup, check out MiniCooperGirl. She is an inspiration for us ladies that have a few extra inches.
Flexibility is something that you build up over time. Stretching helps at the end of your poling or just deep intensive stretching on your non poling days.
I have an XPole and an Aradia pole. Both are great.
Take baby steps and you will be awesome.

First, a good website. Give a lot of information and pricing. Six week classes are great for me, but if you can't do a class, offer a makeup class structure. Keep it to about six girls per class maximum so that the ones having some issues can get the help they need.
Second, lots of drop in classes and teaser classes to bring in customers.
Third, keep the lighting low. It gets hot in there with the spinning and poles get too slippery.
Fourth, staff that is upbeat and friendly. No cell phones unless you have an absolute emergency.
The eviornment should be supportive and fun, a sense of comaraderie. This is one of the things that I love about the studio that I go to. I know she is more expensive than everyone else, but considering that her staff get constant training and there are always new things to learn, I think it becomes more cost effective.
I am not as fast at picking up tings as the others in my class, but never once has anyone ever made me feel less than what I am. In fact, they have always made me feel like I have accomplished something even when it is small.
That is the testement of a good studio.

It is by far the truest list I've seen. I am dreaming of the day I can invert on my own and do a beautiful decending angel.

So tell me, am I the only one that does hip circles in the car while driving on the highway to work and wish I could wear my stilettos to work without wiping out in the showroom?
And Yes! It is the most addictive sport!

Just got my new X-pole & my fat-ass can’t use it!Well, I had no upper body strength, and I am still about 40lbs away from being where I want to be, but I am consistant. I can now climb, the pole hold is still a challange and inverting is coming slowly. Patience, persistance, and encouragement from the lovely ladies here and at the studio where I go.
One Day At A Time!
Oh yes, and you can do it, girl.

I started a year and a half ago, and I started noticing that I was losing after a month. When I bumped up my work outs to three times a week with stretching in between, it was more drastic. So about a year. The weight lose is gradual, but it is staying off, and I have had no health issues. Blood pressure and cholesterol came down too.

Thank You, but I attribute all my energies and encouragement to the fine ladies who continue this sport. They imspire me every day.

I started to pole a year and a half ago. I was a size 24 and had not done any exercises at all. I am now a size 16, have lost close to 80 lbs and my doctor is shocked at how firm my body has become. My abs, though not flat are almost pure muscle and I have the had the nicest compliments on my legs.
And I have a butt!
Let me just add, I am 53 years old and a grandmother. I attest to the power of the pole!
