Whitney, I sent you an email but perhaps it got lost in the ether somewhere. Here is what I wrote in my email I’ll include it here in case it helps anyone else.

Generally this means that you have something modifying base URLs. There are two things that can cause this:

    1) A faulty plugin or browser extension – Plugins and browser extensions that are improperly built often truncate your URLs causing this error.

    2) Viruses or malware will also cause this problem by truncating URLs.

There are two things you can try:

    1) Turn off all plugins/extensions in your browser.

    2) Download a new browser and give that a try.

Coming from a marketing background I can say that this is one of the questions you always face when starting a new project.

The stock photography question is usually centered around budget, time and the message you are trying to portray. If you are trying to sell someone on the convenience of a new website and so you want to show someone using a computer on a bed, stock photography is usually adequate and the least expensive and most time efficient way to get the image. When you consider a dentists office, generally you just want to show someone who is happy and who has white teeth so certainly stock photography is great there.

For something like a studio I think there are several considerations:

Do you want to show someone healthy and happy enjoying their new body? Stock photography is great for that.

Do you want to show someone teaching a class? Its probably best to use and actual photo of one of your teachers in your studio so there is not possible misrepresentation.

On StudioVeena.Com we use very little stock photography. Definitely nothing pole related. Even the pole dancer sillouhette that you see next to our logo is of Veena. Occasionally I use stock photography for the background on a sale but overall I like the idea of original artwork and original photography. That however is mostly a personal preference, I think it feels more authentic.

September 25, 2014 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Is studio veena backed by X-Pole?

This is a blatant lie that Platinum Stages has been spreading for years. The community’s opinions or thoughts have zero bearing on the truth. That truth is that no pole company backs or supports us in any way. Even our margins on the StudioVeena Pole made by LIL MYNX are crazy thin and account for an inconsequential part of our revenue.

As a website that serves the entirety of the pole community, our interest is in diversity of product. We actually feel that the lack of diversity is a major weakness in the pole community, and would love to see more quality companies step into the arena. StudioVeena.Com benefits only from the growth of the pole world which would be much better served by more pole companies, more pole clothing companies, more studios and more pole businesses in general.

You’ll notice that there is nowhere that Veena speaks poorly of Platinum Stages. Even the stage pole comparison, that Platinum Stages insisted on, is done from a completely objective standpoint.

We are tired of being beaten up by a company that we have very specifically not said anything negative about. We both grew up in the American Midwest where the saying goes “if you can’t say anything good don’t say anything at all”.

Polesilks, please leave the advertising rhetoric at home. You are welcome to suggest your product and state its value proposition but this is a bit excessive and not in the spirit of the StudioVeena.Com discussions. If you have any questions as to what is appropriate please feel free to look at the lilmynx or mighty grip responses throughout the site.

Here are some videos regarding the StudioVeena pole https://www.studioveena.com/shopping

  • A credit card number is distinctly different than the credit card account. Think of the card number as an alias for the account. The card number is a valid way to credit your account (put money into the account) indefinitely, but becomes closed to debits (withdrawing money from the account) when the card is cancelled or expires.

In short they will still be able to refund the money to the account. They simply would not be able to draw anything further from the account.

  • Sorry to hear your going through this CrazyKosters, thats totally unprofessional.

  • I would like to make a more general statement regarding customer service in emerging industries such as pole dance.

At StudioVeena.Com we make ourselves available at any time of day. With the exception of a few hours when we are sleeping I respond to concerns over technical and billing issues as quickly as possible, usually within minutes. Veena responds to questions about her lessons in much the same way. We do this on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Our members our our living and we try and treat you all with the respect and care that entails.

Why do we see so many issues like this that are so easily avoided. Phat Buddha could have avoided this issue entirely by using a Square or PayPal Here device. If they didn’t do that they could still delight their customers by responding immediately to customer concerns even on weekends.

If any of you are thinking about starting a business, please, please, please account for your customers. Your customers are your business and treating them like just another $40 will kill your business quicker than anything else you can do.

For our small team maintaining a Roku channel is probably not on the horizon, but I can give you a couple tips.

Getting video to your TV is really easy with the right tools:

If you have iOS devices such as iPads, iPods or iPhones an AppleTV will allow you to stream anything from your device to your TV.

If you have an Android device a Google Chromecast will allow you to stream anything from your device to your TV.

Ecosystem becomes really important when we start talking about device streaming. Roku while still popular is beginning to struggle against ecosystem devices like AppleTV and Chromecast.

The 30 day takeoff here is widely regarded as the best way to start poling.
