Generally any video under 250MB is now accepted. What is generally the problem is that WMM files are very likely to include random escape characters that will break an upload. Compressing the video will usually remove these problematic characters and allow things to work.

If you are talking about a good camera for posting videos on youtube and here, then look into the Flip Cam, they are inexpensive, super easy to use and have great quality and they are so compact they can go everywhere. Here is a link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023B14TK/ref=s9_simz_gw_s3_p114_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0G7033VWDV89AN01YDJ5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 (Spoiler Alert: Veena’s July Challenge was filmed with one of these check it out on youtube in high-def http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdXdiELLxmA)

If you are talking about a camera that connects to your computer for chatting, both Microsoft and Logitech have some excellent entries, your best bet is usually to visit http://www.cnet.com and see what is at the top of the pack currently.

July 25, 2009 at 1:38 am in reply to: Changing username

As we’ve stated before, we don’t change usernames. There are several reasons why:

    1) It creates confusion, people will not know who you are
    2) Security
    3) The technology base is becoming quite large and we have to maintain names accross all the pieces of the site

We have no intention of bringing this feature back. The majority of community sites out there don’t allow it, and for very good reason. From a security perspective how do you track abusive personalities when one person tells you that joe is causing trouble, and another tells you that jim is causing trouble and they are the same person, with changed username.

Generally, when there is an uploading file error with no other error message, there is an errantly placed string of bytes that break the upload.

This seems to be more common in WMV files does, Windows Movie Maker allow you to save as anything else? I have never had this problem with mpg or mov files but have seen it happen with WMVs.

July 4, 2009 at 10:27 pm in reply to: Question about trip event for Veena?????

These are very interesting questions, and I hope I can clarify this for everybody.

Veena is introducing a new feature into her newsletter where she involves members and friends in the goings on of the StudioVeena.Com day to day. This is not a contest, nor is it an established event, nor is it a competition. There is no list on which to "get on". It is purely an effort to bring the community closer together by giving everyone insight into the lives and personalities of certain members who have arrived here, in the San Francisco Bay area, one way or another. Most importantly, it is fun for us.

If you are coming the San Francisco Bay area, email us. If we are able, we’d love to meet you while you are here. If there is time we’ll even do some video together.

We respectfully request that you refrain from questions of who paid for what in the forum or chat room. Public discussions of topics like this are tacky and in poor taste.

Thanks, we love you all, and wish we could meet each and every one of you.

I’m a fan of the Canon HV30 you can pick it up for $750 if you look online and its got all kinds of neat features. Full HD at 1080p, selectable framerates to 30 frames per second. It has the Canon advanced hot-shoe that you can plug any number of devices into including several fancy microphones or even an adapter for professional microphones.

If you want to see some samples of work with the HV30 just go to youtube and search. Make sure to pick ones with HD because thats where you’ll see its true capabilities. We’re gonna start shooting StudioVeena videos with this camera once we get our new lighting.

Just to put the cherry on the sundae. I had a canon GL2 which is a $2800 camera, I prefer this one by far. It has better color seperation, it’s smaller, and much higher image quality. Canon uses a special prism to get the same quality as you do with a 3CCD setup out of a single CMOS sensor. In short its AWESOME!!!!
