Veena, what’s the next program you have in mind? Shouldermount by any chance…?

I would also say shouldermount. When other moves are workable and i see some progress, then with shouldermount none, zero, zip… I’ve read and looked all the tutorials on internet, doing strengthening on and off pole. I can v-invert no problem, but cannot pinpoint what is the issue that holds me back with shouldermount. Definitely not fear in this case

I had this recently. It took me a long time to fully heal. I was away from pole in total 3,5 months. I was active though as I did some dancing, ballet and yoga, but avoided heavy work on my shoulder. I had couple of relapses, when my kid simply jerked my arm and when i reached out to get a parking ticket through my car window, and this made me very cautious to return poling. I did that when it was fully painfree and after ultrasound didnt show any inflammation. abefore getting back on pole I also took a personal training session from a physiotherapist, who assessed my condition and gave me prep exercises for poling. These are very close to what Veena has for shoulder conditioning. Hope this helps and you get better soon!

Pretty Pixie, Mika has very long leggings that reach over heels. I’m also around 5’8. I also like their fit, no muffintops, no camel toes and my bum looks great in those ;-). Good fabric too. I ordered them for yoga, but now i wear them every day at home. Had to get me more 🙂

Thanks, Runemist, I really appreciate your advice. Actually, you may be absolutely right. most of the pain is indeed in front of the elbow and exactly how you describe. I always thought and the chiro also said that the pain runs from the shoulder or even from the back as he mentioned at my earlier appointment that I have hurt my back muscles while prepping for shoulder mount and this pain can beam to the bicep. At that time my shoulder wasnt that much hurting and it was difficult to make sense from where the pain actually came from. The chiro is a new one as my previous one who fixed my back left to work abroad and I really dont know how good this new chiro is, but he seems quite beginner, I’ll try to find someone better. Anyway I’m now heading to ice my bicep instead my shoulder and definitely give some rest.

It is really saddening to read the stories and how many of you dont get the support and admire this big part of your (our) lives. I thought to share you my story. When I started poling a year ago my long time husband really didnt get it. He opposed having a pole in the house, I ordered it secretly and when it arrived, had to assemble alone. He didnt want to hear or see anything pole related. But recently it has changed. It turned out that he has told to his colleagues, neighbors, friends about my hobby :-). SO he is been around and bragging. when we had heart to heart talk about this, then he said that at first he was intimidated and thought it is silly and just a new whim that would pass and he also felt uncomfortable, and was afraid of my health and also bruises didnt look particularly pretty on me. Now he has realised how much it has changed my body for the better and built confidence. Also how demanding the hobby is and how strong ive become and how crazy tricks I can do. He is really impressed and proud of me, but sort of failed to tell it to me. I dont know, mens thing… As for talking about it, he said that he didnt feel good talking about something he didnt know about and didnt have anything to say. Well… I said that the same applies for me listening to his running stories, competition times, lap times, VOmax etc. So now we made a deal that we both fake the interest 🙂 and at least try to understand each others passions. In conclusion, just talking helped us to understand a bit of the reasons

My 7 yo daughter loves to spin and climb and also “inventing” tricks. She is very flexible and with her dance and ballet background it looks good too, nice lines and pointed toes. Im positively envious 🙂 and we fight for the pole time. She wants to take classes, but i dont know any studio in my town that accepts kids and she is so unpatient when i try to teach her something. Everything she does comes from copiyng me or just by playing around. Funny thing happened when during an introductory talk w teacher his dad answered the question – what does she like to do at home? – She pole dances with her mom :-D… Teacher response amazed me even more. She said to my daughter, wow, you must be real strong then.

Although a bit younger (40) then I know what you … and Veena (with my many kids) and Allyson (having first kid at 20) …. feel :-). Most girls in my studio are half of my age, but I don’t mind. The younger girls seem to pick up things quicker, they are stronger…but I point my toes, I kick my legs higher and am much more flexible (from doing yoga for years). Even tried twerking in another studio where there were mostly teens… kids even younger than my big sons. I totally rocked there as I had much better body awareness. I feel young and powerful for doing what I really like to do. Im super proud of my body and youthfulness, i feel girly and I hate words like age-appropriate… Just focus on what you can do, what you are good at and how you feel about it :-). I hope to keep poling as long as my body can keep up with this and sad that I just found this new love of mine. This is the only thing why I envy these girls at my studio, that they can enjoy poling longer than I, but then again… there are people who dont have even that what I have. This is how i see it..

I meant: … and taken as a midlife crisis whim

Pole shame has and is an issue for me. I couldn’t believe myself that people would be so narrow-minded. I’ve stopped telling this to people, because the chance is high to be misunderstood and after a while trying to explain that it is different from sleazy club pole dance and it is mainly for fitness, I just gave up, seems better not to disclose everything. I’m a professional with a demanding position and I cannot simply undermine my credibility. Although, I so much hate to hide a part of me and something that i passionately like to do. Also, as i started it fairly late, then it hurts when something you take seriously is ridiculed and not taken as a midlife crisis whim (which i dont have). I had issues with my husband too, he didn’t get why yoga and dancing is not enough anymore and why pole. Until he talked to a colleague and she said that it is the hardest fitness programme ever 🙂 and then he started to be proud of me instead of being in shame and I got my pole… (that we call at home a fitness bar … that my young daughter wouldn’t unintentionally spread the word and be bullied for having a pole and pole dancing mom at home) 🙁
