I’m always looking for more pole shorts.. really want more scrunch tie-side and I saw a few other posts asking about the same style. I bought a pair from the studio I go to – absolutely LOVE them. They can be worn straight, or scrunched up from mild to WOW. And they stay put! I haven’t had any "crotch-action".. cheekiness depends on how much I scrunch. Wore ’em when I had three back-to-back workshops with Alethea, and again for Takeila’s workshop.. no whoopsies. But of course when I wanted another pair (or two), they were all gone, and Angela wasn’t planning on ordering more because there’s a minimum order and not enough girls at the studio wanted ’em. I’m going to wait and see what my paycheck looks like before I splurge, but I wanted to share the website.

MemberMarch 3, 2010 at 4:53 am in reply to: Perfect way to celebrate my pole anniversary, but..Thank you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can’t believe it’s been a year, but one thing’s for sure.. I can’t wait to see whats ahead, especially with the new studio opening. My house is only 5-10 minutes away, so I’ll be able to catch more classes. The original studio is 25 minutes away, which isn’t bad at all considering I used to drive a little over an hour to get there. So between the two locations, I’m hoping to get more studio time.
I have class tomorrow morning.. maybe I can get there early and freestyle a little bit. Of course it’ll probably be just me and one of the instructors.. my nerves won’t get me frazzled. lol I guess I could record my freestyle so I can get an idea what I’m going to look like.. and maybe post on here? There’s a few songs that I’ve been really drawn to..
BoA – Eat You Up
Rihanna – Rockstar 101 ft Slash
Adelitas Way – Dirty Little Thing
Saving Abel – Addicted (My alter-ego’s stage song for sure https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
Seether – BreakdownAny suggestions? And Thank you again, especially for encouraging me.

MemberFebruary 24, 2010 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Friends and family–do they get annoyed with pole talk?I had heard comments my friends had made when I said that if I had the body and the right place, I would totally dance in a club and my signature song would be Saving Abel "Addicted". So there wasn’t any point in asking if they wanted to sign up for classes with me. Since it’s never bothered me to do things by myself (dinner, movies, beach..), I went to the studio solo and I was hooked from the start. Of course it didn’t take long for some of my "friends" to distance themselves away from me. Nearly a year after my first spin around the pole, I still can’t tell how people will react. My clients watched me lose 30lbs in 2008, and then they started to notice that I was toning up early last year. That’s when curiousity kicked in and some wanted to know what I was doing. I didn’t want my clients to be offended, but I was excited to share my passion with them. I only had a few that got really quiet, but most demanded that I keep them posted on my progress.. some said that they were going to live vicariously through me. It brightens my day when they come in and switch the conversation from being about them to wanting the latest details. Of course, not everyone at my work is supportive. I’ve invited them to come to class with me during "Bring a Friend Week".. no one accepted. I used to share my latest accomplishment with the ones I was closest to, and I could go on and on about what I was working on. But I started to recognize "the look." https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Thankfully, my Mom is supportive of me. She was concerned when I first signed up for the classes, but once she saw how happy it made me and came to my first Open House performance, it put her at ease. She tells people all about it! Omigod! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif Like when we were digging out of our driveway after our second pounding of snow.. our neighbor across the street from us came out to give us a hand because he "didn’t feel right watching two gorgeous ladies do it by themselves." This is the first time I had actually met him (moved in Sept. ’09 and we’re not hermits lol).. found out that he is a high school teacher, blah blah blah. He asked what we did.. heh. Mom says that she’s a letter carrier for the USPS.. and before I can say that I’m a Hairstylist, she says "Kelly pole dances! She even has a pole set up in our garage." The look on his face was amazing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif She added shortly after that I didn’t do it for the money. He looked even more shocked. So I jumped in and said that I had "been taking classes since March ’09 at a dance studio in Ocean City and that it has been the best workout I’ve ever had. By profession, I’m a Hairstylist." Needless to say, it definitely broke the ice. We came home the other night and the guy had a friend over.. they were sitting on their open tailgates and it looked like they were knockin a few beers back. He said hello and what-not and while I was getting stuff out of my car, I heard the words "pole" and "garage". I couldn’t help but smile to myself.

I’ve always had thicker calves and no matter where I looked, I couldn’t find knee-high boots for casualwear. So when I wanted some for pole dancing, I thought I’d be out of luck. With the help of my instructor, I picked a pair of Pleaser knee-high boots that have interchangeable tongues (variety of colors!), lace up the front and also have a zipper on the side.. they’re in the "Delight" style so they have the thinner heel.. Pleaser makes a chunkier heeled version too. Good luck in your search!! Post a picture when you get a pair. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
